Which Banks/Credit Card Companies accept you with an old default?

I have a default from 3yrs ago with Natwest they charged me alot as the original amount was fairly small, but their charges made it £800.
Now I buried my head in the sand over it to be fair, but trying to face the problem I wrote a letter asking if I paid it off would they remove the default etc no joy.
So I ask which companies use the last 36mths history or don't mind one default if its from 2007?

No I asked as I think NID wrote that certain banks only look at 3yrs. I have been accepted for all my other accounts within last 18mths so I know you can.
I was just looking for another credit card or bank account. As Natwest are awfulBank Account: Abbey No Overdraft & Electron!, Lloyds TSB Premier,

Only likely to be the subprime cards like the vanquis that you already have.
You should be able to get a basic bank account at any bank as these don't require a credit check.
If you settle the debt then you should stand a better chance. Refusing to settle because they won't remove the default doesn't seem sensible. Have you tried offering a reduced full & final to take into account the charges?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
