Stealing from your children

Just for the record, we have a combined income quickly approaching 6 figures, and that's with the wife working part time, so no need to worry about me.
Of course you do, every bear that's ever been on this website has a 6 figure income and deposit. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Not all children are abused, mistreated or malnurished.
Indeed, I believe that the children of today have far better opportunities than the generations before, although I do concede that the ethics installed into our children are not as good as our previous generations.
The child with the 100% attendance may not have had major health issues such as cancer, cystic fibrosis or meningitis, but the radio report did ask if he ever got ill such as having the flu.
He replied that he had, but wanted to "just get on with it"
If the generation of today had a similar attitude and adapted to the reality of harsh life, then we would be seeing a different attitude in the country and indeed on these boards.
Not everyone is as impoverished as you make out and there are cases of those that have been making choices to better themselves.
Whatever life throws at you, you have to adapt, work through it and get on with life.
Moaning about how hard life is or how you have been treated will not resolve the problem.
[ISTL steps of the soap box with no offence intended but frustrated that people use the harshness of life to whine]
Of course not all children are abused or neglected, but some are. Of course not all people will get seriously ill at some point in their life, but some will.
You seem to be suggesting that anything can be overcome with a bit of blitz spirit, getting your head down and working hard and this is simply not the case. There are people who will never be financially well off, or will lose everything they once had due to factors outside their control.
I can't believe you compared cystic fibrosis to flu. Its a lot easier to 'just get on with' one than the other.
Of course not everybody leads a miserable tough existence, I certainly don't. But some people do, and listening to opinions like yours that suggest that they should be able to just pull themselves together probably doesn't help!0 -
What are you talking about? This has nothing to do with the issue at hand.
Trust me when I tell you that today many children woke up across the world wishing they had even 1% of the advantages the majority of children in the UK have.
So the fact that there are children starving in Africa means that nobody's problems in this country are preventing them from being financially successful? How does that work?
You said majority yourself, I just prefer for people not to forget the minority.0 -

Have you considered applying to be England's motivation coach in SA?;)In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -

The best one I saw was a small campbodian girl who instead of begging, used her charm.
She must have been about 3 or 4 maximum and with a big smile asked me where I was from.
Wwhen I replied Scotland she said a few facts about Scotland like the capital is Edinburgh.
This is a girl who has been dealt a harsh hand but is getting on with it and using some information and ability to maximise her situation.
Tell me, how many 3 or 4 year olds know the capitol of Campbodia?
without searching, how many on here know the capitol of Campbodia.
This girl, instead of begging of whining like so many others adapted her situation to improve herself and her family.
Please don't come back about how her family is using her (albeit that it may have been true). It's a story about how people can use the hand dealt to a better position than what others do.
Errrrmm.....she was still begging. I lost count of the number of "cute" little children who approached me and my wife asking where we were from. We would then be regaled with the capital cities in the hope that this would charm us into giving them money (and my heart would bleed for the ones in the background who were not so cute, and who's "big smiles" weren't good enough to compete with the others).
I just hope you understand that rote learning a few capital cities to squeeze money from tourists is what these children get instead of a proper education and the chance of making a future for themselves. As long as tourists continue to be suckered in this will be seen as a more profitable alternative, their parents will never let them go to school and so the cycle of poverty continues.
Sorry for the rant but Westerners should really know better before they spread their "charity" around.0 -

I don't understand your 1st para?
We live in a democracy, where the needs of the majority take precedence. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -

Just responding to a direct insult. Not sure what else to say, that's the reality, my wife and I are both doctors and earn a relatively decent wage.
If it makes you feel better by pretending that I earn below the average wage, live in social housing and post here because I'm jealous of all those who paid a premium for a slave box, then go for it.0
