I go to a dentist 30-odd miles away from home, because it was the nearest one taking on NHS patients. I found them on the NHS website, it tells you who is taking on patients privately, NHS or otherwise. It wasn't very up to date, I had to try a few before I found one willing to take me on.
I am a medicash member - £26 a month cover me & him for all sorts of stuff, dental treatment included. You can only claim 75% of each treatment & up to a max amount each year, but it's better than nothing.

Just enter your postcode and then check the list to see what dentists near you have on offer.

tried the above, nearest is a 60 mile round trip.
  • I'm grateful I've got an NHS dentist, but like Allexie, it isn't all plain sailing. I had a bridge put in 10 years ago; had to pay the max contribution for NHS treatment which was around £300 then.

Last visit, dentist said it needed replacing and no longer covered by NHS. I had to pay £963 or have a large gap in the upper left of my mouth.

......and isn't it strange how, if you are NHS, you only need a check up once a year but if you go private you need one every six months....or am I being cynical >:(
