Just flagging up an issue I've had with O2 recycle. I recently traded in my Nokia n97 after a year as O2 offered me £150 for a working model, today I received an email stating that they would pay £135 instead due to "white marks" on the screen found under examination. The phone had not one scratch or defect which is quite an achievement for a Year old touchscreen phone. Apparently the white marks were found under a microscope. This is ridiculous! Surely they must realise that they will not receive a brand new phone in the post!

I’ve used O2 recycle in the past and had a good experience and they even called as I’d forgotten to take the pin off your phone which is quite good as others would have just not paid out for it, seems a down to earth service, the people were really friendly and went out there way to help me, my friend used it and got full price for her phone so perhaps you’ve just been unlucky or maybe you didn’t notice the damage? I suppose if the O2 folk are trying to reuse or sell your old phone the value will decrease if its damaged even a little bit, I bought a plasma last year brand new and it had pigment marks on the screen I didn’t mind it could hardly notice it but my friend told me to take it back and when I did I got a refund no probs.0

^^ what he said, CEX pay cash and the testing only takes a few hours maximum.
Downsides? you often have to queue in busy stores which can take up to an hour"We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -

I did mine online they send you a freepost envelope to put it in. process start to finish took 4 days from when they received it. They paid the money into my bank account. but you can opt for paypal or cheque.0 -

Most likely bad luck I argued my point to no avail. I can't prove it but the phone was kept in a case all the time as I'm paranoid about screen damage, so ad you can imagine o2 paying me less due to apparent screen damage boiled my blood!:beer:0 -

Beware Avoid at all Costs
Got a new Iphone from local O2 shop, they suggested I use O2 recycle to dispose of my existing phone now this was an HTC HD2 with 14 months left on guarantee quoted me £167 so I left my phone with the shop manager, after 10 days got an email down grading the offer to £42, they say there is a blemish on the LCD, rang they said the blemish was not visible to the naked eye but it was there so the price as been reduced, asked for it back charging me £14,99 postage, just avoid at all costs, my phone was like new, I feel stupid for trusting O20 -
theres nothing wrong with it. i took my 3gs instore, was quoted £247 for it. so i signed to say i was selling it, got a receipt to say id get that much, 10 working days later i had 247 quid in my bank account0

I too was quoted online -£247 to send in my iPhone 3GS. Whilst the service was quick, they deducted 5% for wear and tear. Not happy since the phone I sent them was virtually mint condition as it had lived in a case with a screen protector on. It would cost me more than the deduction to retrieve the phone back from them so I have accepted the deduction but I won't be using them again. There wasn't any signs of wear and tear but I guess they think they can get away with claiming this because they have you somewhat over a barrel, as to get it back costs more.
Please beware using them.0
