Cake vs Cupcakes

Options
We went and visited a cake maker today and paid a deposit and booked them for next year! :)

Just need to decide what cake to have. Don't need to deceide finally until January. Currently deciding between 3 styles:

Cupcake tower

'bow and brooch'

and 'bling'

Bow and brooch and bling will have purple ribbon and/or crystals to tie in with purple colour scheme- like this:

Cupcake tower will be pretty much as it is the pictures except more cupcakes (we need 90 + top tier cake!) :)

I'm very undecided between cake and cupcake though and was just wondering what other people had decieded to have :)

i like the 2nd one best but is that thr price £425? i could never spend that

i can make a cake though so know the price to make :money: its gorge but i also like the cupcakes lol the bling one is lovely but it doesnt stand out like the other 2 imo of course.

im also like you at the moment i wanted a 3 tier round cake with simple design like mathcing ribbon and flowers maybe some draping but then i saw a gorge mini cake tier (rathetr then cupcakes there mini iced cakes) then this week im on cupcakes lol made some yest and thought god can i be bothered doing this 150 times the day before and transporting them :rotfl:

i thought would be an easy decision to make but im finding it harder then the dress!

My Mum is going to make cupcakes for me - we're going to have fun in the lead-up practising how to ice them - she will be doing the final ones as it's bad luck to make your own cake apparently. Still not sure whether we will have a cutting cake on the top or not. I like the way the cupcakes are all iced using the same colour, but different wrappers etc to differentiate the different types. We were thinking of having carrot cakes, chocolate sponge and vanilla sponges, so could distinguish the flavours in the same way I suppose. Just need to get a cupcake tower from ebay or find out how much they charge to hire them at our local cupcake shop. We're only having 40 of us though so it's a bit easier in terms of numbers to make.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

    Definitely the cupcake one.
    It's so versatile.
Can make some in different flavours and colour code the cases, colour code the decs, flavour the cup cake covering...the list is endless!
Mind you, I and DD went on a half day cupcake decorating course at Milton keynes recently and it was such fun deciding what colours looked good, how much decoration to put on etc etc.
You can incorporate initials... oh the list is endless.
    Whatever you decide, enjoy.
