  • I've never had a problem with paying loads of bags in at Barclays - all correctly bagged though.

I've also changed it for notes at the Post Office before

If you have an HSBC/First Direct account and are near a branch with a coin machine that will save you the trouble of bagging the money.

The machines are o.k. for a pocketful of coins, but if you have a large quantity you could be there all day. The coins go into bags behind the scenes and these will only hold so many coins of each denomination. The bags keep filling up and you have to attract the attention of a member of staff to go and change the bags for you, -possibly several times on one visit if you have lots of 1ps or 2ps. This has happened to me on several occasions. It's normally quicker, and much less frustrating, to bag them all up correctly at home first, and pay them in over the counter.

How much change can you pay in to the bank in 1 go? I have heard the banks have a limit but can't find any info on the net? Do you think £100 in £2 coins and 20p etc will be accepted?

    Thanks

Depends on the bank, size of branch, time of day, whether already bagged or not, whether going into an acoount and so on. Santander/A&L/YBS/halifax and similar likely to take far smaller amounts.

Try being more specific i.e What bank ?
