I've ordered loads of stuff from PLAY and never been charged once. But.....
From Play.- If your delivery address is outside of Jersey, you may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. Any such additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by you. You should note that customs policies vary widely from country to country; Play.com advises each customer to contact their local customs office for further information.

Sorry quoia, still not with you. Play's price is all inclusive and there's no Import Duty implications for England AFAIK
I didn't mean there was no VAT, I meant that it was included and the price you see is the price you pay with no extras added by Customs.
Do you know something we don't?

Except that Jersey is part of the British Isles so you wouldn't be liable for added tax... No more than if you bought it on the isle of wight.0 -

Goods purchased from traders in Jersey and Guernsey
Customs has in place with the Jersey and Guernsey Customs and Postal authorities a special scheme that allows many of their traders to collect and pay to UK Customs import VAT on sales they make to UK customers. These traders, who are approved by the Jersey and Guernsey authorities, are allocated a unique authorisation number and this should be stated on the outside of your package. Under these arrangements you will be asked to pay import VAT, if applicable, at the time you make your purchase, and will not have to pay any additional costs such as import VAT, or the Royal Mail handling fee, when you receive your goods.
Hopefully this clarifies the matter unless I'm missing something!

Are you taking about CDs / DVDs or other "cheap items" ordered such that their value is less than £18 per shipment ?
From the Royal Mail website re CUSTOMS CHARGING
For goods moving within the EU, import duties and taxes do not usually apply. However, for goods imported from non-EU countries, Customs charges do apply, these may include import duty, excise duty and import VAT. Goods with a value exceeding £18 (for commercial items including internet/mail order purchases), or £36 in the case of gifts between private individuals, are generally subject to Customs charges. Normally charges are calculated upon the declared value (plus shipping costs for commercial items). Further general information can be obtained by contacting HMRC
(And Jersey is not "within" the EU)There are 10 types of people in the world. ‹(•¿•)›(11)A104.28S94.98O112.46N86.73D101.02(12)J130.63F126.76M134.38A200.98M156.30J95.56J102.85A175.93
