Please Help - Pregnancy Pay and Benefits

I would really appreciate somebodys help and advice with the following.

I am currently 29 weeks pregnant and just about to finish my PGCE. I have 2 children aged 9 and 12. My partner has recently moved in with me and we try to share the bills as best as possible. He earns fairly good money (£30k pa) but has considerable debts which he pays over £500 a month towards.

Now I no longer recieve any student loans we were hoping that I would receive some sort of benefit, as with me earning no money until January we simply cannot survive on his income. I contacted Work and pensions today and was told I was entitled to nothing as I have been a student for the last 2 years.

We are both really concerned how we are going to get through the next few months with our fixed monthly D/D alone being £2000! with his income being £1810 and me recieving £300 CSA and £140 child benefit the figures don't add up! The only option that seems to be open is for him to move out, which we really don't want at this important time in our lives!

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is there nothing out there for us?

Thank you in Advance

you won't get any maternity pay as you havnt been working. Nor will you get any help towards mortgage or rent with an income of 30k plus. After baby is born you will get extra child benefit and small amount of child tax credits
no benefits take into account any debts you have to pay

You have to prioritise the debts. If you have unsecured debts, then don't pay them. Contact the lenders, and set up arrangements with them until your situation improves. See the CAB urgently.
All over the place, from the popular culture to the propaganda system, there is constant pressure to make people feel that they are helpless, that the only role they can have is to ratify decisions and to consume.

Just make sure that everyone knows what a piece of work this poster is have a look at her other thread posted

  • Hmmm not sure why you I would make you feel sick Sunnyone, nor do I see how our two posts would be a contradiction of one another??

I merely asked the question of living with a partner in another post due to the fact that it was a different question. Is that not allowed???????

This site has been recommended to us due to the helpful nature of the people on here, but clearly you slipped through the net! We are not trying to work the system, but if he has to move out in order for us to be able to live a life whilst both fulfilling our commitments to our creditors and bringing up 2 (soon to be 3 children) then that is what we will have to do.

I haven't worked because I have been studying full time whilst bring up 2 children.

Not asking for your pity, just advice, if you haven't got any, then go bang your head against a wall, and if you want to insult somebody why don't you do it to there face rather than behind your computer screen.

Anyway thanks to those who did post a helpful response.

Can you not see the contradiction in your first two statements?

If you are considering his moving out to enable you to claim more benefits, what is this if it isn't working the system?

Could you explain why you think you should be paid more public money to enable you to repay your debts or why you are annoyed that people should question this?
