Ford Focus Clutch

I have a 2007 57 plate Ford Focus 1.8 tdci zetec. I have just covered 50,000 and I took it into the garage for its 50000 service. I mentioned the clutch made a noise sometimes when it was depressed. I have now been told I need a new clutch and it’s not under warrantee! It is at the local Arnold Clark Ford and they have quoted £800 to repair! Don’t no if that even includes VAT!
Any advice?
Is this a common fault?
Thanks

Not as common as head gaskets on rovers, but seems to be common.0

Do you know anyone who could fit a clutch? Or a little backstreet garage?
I just bought a clutch for my car and it cost me £77. Give someone a few quid to fit it and there ya go
Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.0 -

the op's focus will have DMF so it will cost a tad more than £77 to buy the clutch kit for this....work permit granted!0 -

I have no idea what that mean :rotfl: but I'm sure it wouldn't be as much as £800 that a main dealer are asking for
You can look up on here by entering your reg and it will tell you how much it is :

parts will be around £200 for after market stuff.
it would cost £800 easily in a dealership. i imagine an independant could do it for around £400-£500 theres a lot of work involved apparently....work permit granted!0 -
Could just be the thrust bearing - its not necessarily a problem and the car could go on for a long time like that. If it is the thrust bearing I'd be tempted to just leave it.0

it'll be the dmf (dual mass flywheel rattling) £800 main dealer about right
small garage £5000 -
If the DMF is going get it fixed asap as on Fords it can take out the starter motor.0
