Have you tried putting in a change of circs claim for DLA as it seems he is on lowest amount and from what you say re his health conditons could be entitled to more.Get help from CAB or such like in putting in claim or if recently awarded consider appeal0
-
What is his current DLA award, length and which componant hes receiving because both lows are the same ammount and what is his current care and mobility needs.
CF varies so much that he may not be entitled to more DLA but its worth looking at to see if he has higher needs than he did at the time of his award.
has he ever worked or had entitlment to sickness benefits or maybe done some self employed selling on ebay?0 -
I understand what everyone has had to say but like evryone else I have other bills to pay too and it seems very un fair that I am expected to support 2 people on 1 wage.
My wages dont stretch far after I have paid for my house, Tv license, phone bill and my car. Im left with very little to live on.
I really hate people who can work but dont and get everything on their doorstep for them!!! :mad:0 -

I take you get working tax credits and child tax benefits??
I can see what everyone is saying that aprx £900 is enough to live off of but after all the esential bills who the hell can you support 2 people on next to nothing.
If my partner wasnt living with me he would be entitled to all the benefit under the sun!! Very unfair!!0 -

Why not post an SOA on the debt free wannabe board, as suggested?
They are fab at pointing out areas you can save.
Also, on the oldstyle board, they are great at eating well for less.
Give them a go - there is so much help on this site!0 -

You must have known the score when you decided to live together, why have you not answered the questions people have asked if you want help and not just to moan.0 -

Do you need a car? Do you need a TV licence? (or TV for that matter)

Heya,
Sorry to hear about your situation, I know it can be so stressful living on a budget and not having a secure source of finance.
I had similar problems with ESA. As a student, I was entitled to ESA because I was already receiving DLA, but because of my student loan of £40 a week, apparantly I had enough to live on. However, it was suggested that I get housing benefit in addition, as this is what is supposed to pay your rent. Perhaps you should apply for housing benefit and ask them to do an income assessed ESA. That means that even if you don't get much ESA, they may well pay your NI contributions and it will also help you get housing benefit.
However, housing benefit is a nightmare to apply for, they want all your history of everything, it's SO long! Last time I applied the literally asked for about 30 pieces of information and of course, it became too difficult to complete the process and I quit. The second time, I couldn't even fill in the form it was so stupidly phrased.
Anyway, good luck with it. It may be better for you to consider setting up some work from home, like an ironing service or pet sitting or something, you can advertise on gumtree. It's not too bad, brings in a little extra cash but you won't be able to do it on ESA. I would also suggest, if you are a student, to look into uni grants.
Hope I've been some help.0 -
