No diet tips from me, but before consigning it to the bin it might be worth trying it on a different socket or another ring main to see if it might just be the socket or circuit that is fault, rather than the toaster.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Before you bin it, (make sure it is NOT plugged in) cut the mains lead as close to the toaster as possible, in case someone 'rescues' it from the bin and tries to use it themselves. They may not have decent electrics/modern trips and it could kill them... So make it 'safe' and unusable before binning.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
