Sandwich Toaster Blows Electrics

I have a sandwich toaster someone gave me.

When I turn it on, it works for a few seconds and the flips the trip switch so my home electrics fail.

What do I need to do here? Does it need a new fuse or plug do you think?

Thanks.

If the trip goes (as opposed to a fuse), it means the power is going somewhere it shouldn't (e.g. down the earth because the live is touching the case somehow). It's likely to be a safety problem - ditch it.

    Bin it.
If it was an ordinary toaster I'd say take it outside and give it a good shake upside down.

Determine whether the person who gave you the sandwich toaster was a friend or an enemy of yours...

Not too sure whether you mean MCB or RCD, but it doesn't reaslly matter seeing as you are talking something that is £10 to buy brand new - ditch it and get new if you really want toasted sarnies.

I remeber them from years ago, they were awful. Today all we have to do is come up with some foreign name and hey presto, the panini!
