Advice Needed

I dont know if this is the right place to post this, but I cant really see a relevant board for this.

The situation is as follows.

Currently I live with my nan, and for the past 2 years (ive been out and stopped this at times) little vandals have smashed in the side fence, I mean literally ripped it all out.

Got on the phone to the council with regards having it replaced, with a proper metal fence, but they dont want to know.

I also said well if i have to pay this and we move then I will be sending them a bill.

Does anyone know our rights in this issue? The council are the landlords, surely they should be responsibly for ensuring the safety of there tenants.

What if the above scenario does play out, will i get my money back?

My main concern is my nans safety, sunday kids were running off the out house and diving into (and ruining a tree)

The council dont seem interested, police never turn up.

Any advice would be most appreciated

Cheers

Kev

There's a lot of people calling the BNP action team at the moment. They either hassle local councils to do their jobs properly or they do it themselves and shame the council - for not putting the council money towards improving the local issues but wasting it on lunches out and stuff.

OK. Let's not Hijack Kevichio's thread for our own political ends chaps :naughty:Kev, I should think you'd be able to take them to small claims court - there's a special track for landlords who don't do repairs - there's a really good guide by a judge somebody Pearl. The consumer action group advertise it on their website - i've been reading it this week and KNOW it has loads of landlord related stuff. Costs about £17 if I remember right, but the library might have it? On the police front - do you call the station or 999? I reckon kids jumping off an outhouse warrants a 999.

I dont think this is a small claims issue

Is this a council owned property Kev?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Ring the council and take note of who you spoke to giving them 7 days to respond, then contact your local councillor and say it's having a negative effect on your nan's quality of life and you will go to the newspaper! Also threaten then with contacting your local MP!

That did the trick with us when we wanted moving from a horrible estate where we got threatend everytime we told the kids to get off our roof! and my dad was so affraid he slept in the front room with a baseball bat!

In cases like this, it really is a matter of being the squeaky wheel...
