voice activated googlesearch and typing for htc desire, legend & hero

you can get voice activated googlesearch and typing in any text entry field (sms, email, search on phone or internet etc) for htc desire, legend and maybe the hero. The hero released in uk is different from some models in the usa on some networks like the sprint in usa. it works on the hero sprint version, i dont know if it works on the uk hero version.

some have posted the voice activated typing bit on the desire thread. am posting this as a separate thread as it will be useful for desire, legend and hero phones. plus there is a separate option to get the googlesearch voice activation as well.

The desire does not have voice search and voice activated typing like in the nexus one when it comes from HTC

follow the instructions and you will have voice search in google and voice activated typing in any text box after doing the above.

It just takes a couple of minutes to do this. Hope many of you who are not aware of this modification like this useful feature. YOU DO NOT NEED TO ROOT THE PHONE FOR USING THIS MODIFICATION and it will not void your warranty. this will be just like any other app that improves the functionality of the phone.

the above is mainly for the desire but looks like some legend users have been able to implement this feature by this method and surprise surprise some hero owners seem to have been able to implement this feature as well.

For the desire please instal the high resolution keyboard. for the legend and the hero you need to instal the low resolution keyboard as per other users experience using this.

please note the voice activated typing – jonasl htc ime mod is version 25. there is a version 26a beta present and also another version for froyo see the link given above for xda developers for those who are interested further in exploring the issue.

please note that in the above when i said some hero owners have managed to get voice input, i was referring the usa sprint network hero owners and not uk hero owners. if you look on the net, the sprint hero looks vastly different from the uk hero, so the hardware might be different! so uk hero owners dont assume that this keyboard mod might work for you. try downloading it (low resolution) and if it works fine but if it doesnt then you can always uninstall it.

BUT AS WITH ALL MODIFIED SOFTWARE, DOWNLOADER BEWARE OF ANY GLITCHES AND DONT BLAME ME IF THINGS GO WRONG LATER !!!!! it is working fine for me, with some errors because of my accent but a useful feature to have none the same. probably will work better if there was noise cancellation like in the nexus one but works ok for me even without the noise cancelling mic on the desire.
