    Congratualtions to your daughter.

I think you should give her a treat now, like a cheap day of beauty at a college or a nice meal and put a certain amount into a bank account slowly.

It does seem to be a trend, paying for good results, i know its already costing me quite a bit and fill cost me alot more in the next few years.

Congrats to your daughter, she's done really well.

I know you may be a bit strapped for cash, but please do try and treat your daughter somehow, as she has probably worked really hard to get the results (unless she's one of those kids who does no work but gets good results anyway).

£50 per A* may be a bit genourous though!

  • DD will get something from us. She hasn't even mentioned it since we joked about it a few eweeks ago. She certainly doesn't expect anything. Son has his GCSEs next year and is already worried about living upt to his sister's results

Well done to your DD. My DS managed 2 A's, 1 A*, 2 B's the rest were C's. Very proud of him as you must most definitely be of your DD.

Have always given my children (3 boys) a bonus payment of £5 per A in their reports but taken away the £5 for each D.

This was mainly to encourage the youngest who although bright doesn't apply himself very well and a bit of healthy competition never did anyone any harm. Happy to report that since we started this there has been a steady improvement in both his effort, most importantly, and his achievment.

Will be giving eldest DS something but haven't decided what yet

  • Great news for your daughter DizzyAng. Good idea with the A and D thing. Might motivate my son. He does try hard, but doesn't really seem to know how to study. He'll be able to use DDs notes to study next year and that should help.

Thanks for all your kind replies.

I was given £250 by my parents for my exam results, BUT they were put into a savings account for me in their name to be used to either buy a car or go towards a house. I used it as part of my house deposit when I was 19.

    Congratulations to your daughter!

When I did my GCSE's (8 years ago - i feel so old) I was told I could have £35 per A*, £30 per A, £25 per B, £20 per C etc etc. This was cos they' done the same thing for my older sister.

I got 5 A*s, 5 As and 1 B so had a lovely £350. I think it was just my parents wanting firstly to reward me for working so hard and also to try to convince me to work even that little bit harder before my exams.

I also got £25 off the school for my results. One girl in my class got £175 off the school for her GCSE results!

Shame I did crap on my A-levels.
