in Credit cards
im in the middle of writing a supporting letter to go with my application for the tesco clubcard credit card.
i applied online for it back in november 05. the forms did not distinguish between a student, and a student who works, so they rejected me. i appealed, showing how my income was actually double what their form made it out to be. they asked for further info (past 3 months bank statements etc) to support my case.
because of how manic christmas was, between one thing and another i never got round to sending off the extra information.
i have now decided to apply again. the credit card would be used
1) as a debit card - balance would be cleared in full each month
2) to build up my clubcard points - we are saving for a holiday
3) to build up my credit rating. i have a lack of rating, rather than a poor one. (to help facilitate mortgage applications etc a few years down the line)
in the letter, i have mentioned my previous application, and quoted their reference number. i am also going to include all the additional info they requested last time in support of my claim.
is it worth mentioning that i would be prepared to accept a lower credit limit (as a means of getting my hands on a card) to prove my 'worth' as a customer, as it were?
and what affect, if any, does asking for an additional card holder have on your app? i was thinking about adding OH to my account, but if it would make getting my claim approved harder, i wont bother. could he be added later?
looking forward to your advice
