Don'ty ask me how you'd do this... but you could try saving your text as an image, and disabling right-click?

I have no idea of the answer to this, thats why I'm asking.....if right click is disabled can u use instead ctrl and c to copy then ctrl and v to paste? Would that work?

Yes, disabling right click isn't the answer to all your problems... but there's a chance it would put off the more casual listings-pincher.

I realise that... but I don't have all the answers :) The best I can do is offer a possible solution and hope that someone with more technical know-how will swing by and give you more detail.

Disabling right click isn't the answer to all your problems as it will still be possible to copy and paste... but there's a chance it would put off the more casual listings-pincher. If you have a textured background to your text, perhaps, it would make it really awkward to edit an image stolen from your listing.

  • yes you can still use ctrl + c so disabling right click does precisely nothing. If you write text and insert an image of the text people can just print screen and do the same thing. There's not really much you can do except report them to ebay for copying you. Maybe ebay will take action against them.
    :D
  • What to do is in your description put a couple of extra pictures which are sourced from image hosting sites.

when you are finished and you know somebooday has copied the listing, change these pictures to something a bit rude.

If you do it after someone has bid then they will not be able to revise, then you can have their auction pulled for containining not very nice pics.

Im not supporting this approach just suggesting something that may happen.

    Hope this helps

I like that - very sneaky!

I actually run an image hosting site (http://www.albumonline.net) - I may allow you to 'revise' your item purely on the merrit of this = )

    i normally put something like:

'TEXT CREATED BY (your user) NOTE: IF YOU SEE THIS TEXT OR DESCRIPTION IN ANOTHER AUCTION, THEN IT HAS BEEN COPIED. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME IF YOU THINK THIS LISTING HAS BEEN COPIED.'
works for me! ive had people email me grassing the copycats!

buyers should also look for the date when that auction was created. obviously the earlier auction will be the true author of the copied pic/text.
