It may be possible but to be honest I doubt it simply because most (if not all) ISP's use FRIACO which means ISPs pay BT a flat rate for internet access. This meant that you therefore had to have a BT line to benefit.

As Telewest/NTL are cable companies then they used their own system instead.

Having a telewest landline severely limits your choice and also means you pay expensive telewest rates for calls or their call plans which are actually more expensive than BT.

Have you thought about broadband from Telewest instead? Currently the cheapest offer for new customers (I believe an upgrade is classed as new customer) then you would pay £14.99 a month for 2mb unlimited download. Telewest also have an offer of £8.99 per month for first 3months but this is actually more expensive over the year because after first 3months the cost I assume rises to the normal £17.99.

It's either that, or move your linerental to BT?

That's only because you threatened to leave them so it's not really a deal as such. It's more of an incentive to keep you as a customer than lose you as a customer.

I got them to reduce my broadband from £17.99 to £10 for their 2mb unlimited broadband. This is only for 6months but I just ring up again in 6months time.

Im with Telewest and want to try this, the only thing is i have an outstanding balance on my account to pay off. Do you think id be able to get this offer, because they could turn around and say that because of this i couldnt "leave" till it was paid.

There is another thread regarding getting Telewest deals

It is important to have a clear idea what is out there and how much it costs and be prepared to ask to leave and see it through

I have given them a date to leave before and had them calling me up when it is decided with a far better offer and am currently leaving to go to BT and have been offered 4mb BB with Talk Eves and W/Es at £19-50 pcm including line rental and Talk International but no TV - I will take it up if they give it for a year so I don't have to bother again
Note though I am a 7 year totally paid up customer and worth them keeping
