Let her go off with her new fella and screw his life over. Your brother's better off out of it. There's plenty of lovely girls out there who'd be happy to appreciate him.
I agree. If there's nothing connecting them anymore apart from the ring then its clean break time! No need for any contact or any 'playing off' with this other guy. No need to even remember she ever existed.0 -

Yes she should, but it seems you can't make her
If she wants to keep it, unless the OP's brother made it clear it was subject to them getting married, it seems she can keep it.
Best walk away and be the better of the two imo.

£800 is a small price to pay to get the cheating cow out of his life so he can move on.
She may have sold it herself already and that's why she has been saying she will give it back but it never materialises.
I do understand where he is coming from, because if I were him, I'd want it back to, but I think he would be best to forget her, forget the ring, and live his life how he wants to.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
He'll get £200 max for the ring and to me going through all this hassle just isn't worth it.
Time to ignore her calls, texts and any other attempts to contact him.
He then has the moral high ground and she knows it and when he's not interested in talking to her anymore then his life has really moved on.
All that's easy to say but mighty difficult to do !Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -

I must say that this echo's my thoughts exactly.
I'm going to send him the link to this thread and let him decide for himself.
If it was me, and as his sister i've not said this to him yet, as I have bitten my tongue until it has bled:-
I would let it go, and let the other guy find out for himself what a spoilt, selfish madam she is and let him break her heart.
It would be worth the price of the ring alone just for the satisfaction of her being dumped and treated like poo, just like she treated my brother.
P.S Can't you tell that I never liked herIt has been so hard watching him being treated like a fool because of some immature crybaby.
If he falls out with me, so be it, but he knows I'll be there if he wants me.BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.

Aww you sound like a lovely sis! I wish I had siblings as I'll never understand the closeness being an only child.
When me and my OH split, I gave him the ring back. Why would I want it? It didn't mean anything to me anymore and I wouldn't want to keep it as a constant reminder of our relationship, which only spells out to me that in your brothers case, because it was worth a couple of bob (mine wasn't but it was gorgeous) and because she is an evil cow with no heart, she has sold or pawned it.
He could have spent far more than £800 if he hadn't know she was cheating, so he's got off lightly if you look at it that way.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

Totally agree, but as above poster says, probably easier said than done.

What could he do with it if he got it back? It has karma [not that I really believe in karma], so he would have to throw it into the sea or something, as you couldn't sell it and it is definitely no good to him as an engagement ring again. But it is OK staying with the ex.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

It sounds to me like this girl is enjoying the attention and is just toying with your brother.
He would be much better off just telling her she can keep the ring because he doesn't want it as it'll remind him of a bad relationship. Then walk away. She won't like the fact he's moving on and forgetting about her so he'll have the last laugh.
Fighting over the ring is just prolonging the whole thing and your brother's dignity is worth more than that.Dum Spiro Spero0
