Hi All,
Apologies if this question sounds infinitely stupid for those who are used to this type of thing I feel stupid for asking..!!!
Got my Astra 2nd hand and it didn't come with the vauxhall security card. It did come with the key number (3 digit key type thing) so that's a start.
The dealer gave me a 4 digit code as I told him I wanted to change my radio. He told me this was the 4 digit security code.
Is this the same 4 digit code as the one required to program the key?
Thanks

4 numbers will be radio code. I think they key code is a letter, followed by some numbers.0

depending on age of car vauxhall usually have 3 codes,1 is radio code,1 is key number and the 3rd is the security code to program immobiliser etc.
can you find out who supplied car from new and see if it is their system???0 -
On your car pass should be the key number, the security code and the radio code both security and radio are 4 digits long and all numbers on the vauxhalls.0

Mine was brand new in 07.. 1 prev owner when I got it in 08...
There wasnt a pass with the car when I got it but they told me the security code for the radio is a 4 digit one and gave it to me...
So I'm trying to determine if this is the security code for the key too...
Looks like it isnt though?! Anyone got a definitive answer?[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Car pass contains the following:
VIN
Engine type and number
Key number
Security Code (4 digits)
(some other stuff)
KEY NUMBER is used to actually get a key cut.
SECURITY CODE is used for programming many functions using Tech2 - including adding new keys to the immobiliser. So if you have the 4 digit security code you'll be able to have keys programmed.
There is no Radio Code for the Astra H because the radio is tied to the display unit via the security code.0 -

Awesome.. I have the key number for sure.. And I have this "4 digit code" which I was told I need to get the radio changed in the car.
If this is the security code you refer to I'll go to a Vauxhall dealer tomorrow and ask them for a new key...!!!
Much appreciated[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Yep key number will let them order the key and ("4 digit code") security code will let them program it
Prepare your wallet for the the severe trauma it's about to go through though :rotfl:
The dealer will give you a Car Pass for around £20 btw (and if you bought the car there, I'd be trying to get them to give you it as a goodwill gesture)0 -

How much ya think they'll charge for the key and for the programming of the key seperately (just so I have an idea)

I know it's around £120 all in, unsure how that breaks down. If it's much more than that then tell them where to stick it.
You can buy brand new flip keys pre-cut to your number on eBay for about £40 (NOT USED ONES, DO NOT BUY USED KEYS) and there are people with the ability to program keys to cars outside of Vauxhall0
