Israeli Economic or Military Sanctions
Today 6 Aid Ships were attacked and seized in International waters. These ships flew the flags of Turkey and the USA. The ships were full of aid workers, press and European/middle Eastern politians. Up to 20 passengers were killed.

Whats your thoughts, will this trigger an further economic downturn in the region through trade sanctions. Also what do you think will happen to UK Israeli trade.
Personally I think Israel should suffer a military embargo on foriegn weapon systems used in the attack if found guilty of any crimes. It may hurt us economically as our arms industry supplies equipment.
I think military sanctions would be best rather than economic as not to hurt the decent people of Israel.

Fair point.
I always try my best to avoid buying stuff from the settlements on occupied land. Have no real issue with other Israeli goods.:exclamatiScams - Shared Equity, Shared Ownership, Newbuy, Firstbuy and Help to Buy.

And what are you go to do if these ships are found to have been smuggling weapons?0 -
Personally I find the "we will lose money" argument distasteful in the extreme. We are one of the richest nations in he world, regardless of recession, deficits, etc. We have a standard of living unheard of to so many.
Of course selling weapons to anyone presumes they are to be used.
I guess its fine if its to sell to an ally in a war you are already fighting or that you are broadly happy about so you dont have to get your hands dirty.
Yes I am peace-loving flag waver, lentil knitter etc. I just see it as heartbreaking when you see those tiny childrens dreams to be a suicide bomber and makes me cry everytime I see it. Maybe im too emotional to get involved in this conversation
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Has to be the rule of law. Of course any offences on both sides should be investigated.
One of the things I hate most is weapons and troops being smuggled under aid banners as it puts at risk aid workers. Over the last decade there has been a big increase in aid workers being targeted and killed all over the world. They have to remain impartial, in this case impartial from both Israel and Hamas government. Its the ordinary people that count.:exclamatiScams - Shared Equity, Shared Ownership, Newbuy, Firstbuy and Help to Buy.

I guess we should also stop any arms sales to Turkey because of their treatment of the Kurds?0

I think Israel has really shot itself in the foot with this action. Whatever Israel may say about justification and claims of terrorist backing for the convoy, the fact remains that the convoy included a number of MEPs, prominent authors, a Nobel peace laureate etc, all of whom are very likely to come out in the strongest terms against this action (assuming that they survived). It is a PR disaster. What were the Israeli government thinking? Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Since when were Israel bothered about world opinion?
I've not knowingly bought Israeli goods for as long as I can remember, but since nothing on the shevles seems to come from that country it's a bit of a meaningless gesture.0 -
Nothing like a bit of piracy on the high seas.
Isreal really takes the biscuit. Sending armed troops to board merchant shipping in international waters, then murdering some of the crew?
Doesnt really suprise me, the nation was born of terrorism so its no suprise they remain a terrorist state.Mortgage debt - [STRIKE]£8,811.47 [/STRIKE] Paid off!0
