Several landlords in our area have been prosecuted for renting out homes that are not up to the required standard. The OP can contact her local council and ask for the private rentals department for advice.0

I would also approach the LA and present yourself as potentially homeless (rather than simply put yourself on the housing list) as it is not reasonable for you to live in the property. Shelter can help with both private and social landlords so they really are the best people to adviseI'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!0
