I'm another singleton with a full sized dishwasher. I wouldn't be without it. Added to which my carer's hourly rate means that it is far more MSE to get her to empty the dishwasher, than pay her to stand there doing the washing up by hand :p

I love my dishwasher. After 38 years of marriage we had a new kitchen fitted and dishwasher built in. How on earth did I do all that washing up every day! Wonderful appliance.

Thanks everyone for your excellent advice. (I don't think that I really needed much pushing!) I think that I was being too precious about the cost of using the DW compared to rinsing things first (I was rinsing first honest!) I also think, as mentioned, that different glazes and different tablets make a difference. I'll be bunging everything in with a clear conscience in future and planning more mug storage in my new kitchen!
Thanks again everyone. It is silly what you can get stressed about isn't it?:T
