McAfee Security Centre about to expire?

McAfee due to expire was thinking of going with Microsoft Security Essentials as I need something easy to use, not being techie minded.
I also have Malwarebytes.
Is MSE any better than McAfee? Was not impressed that it allowed malware Antivirus Suite onto my PC & wanted £50 to try & remove it! Ended up having to do complete restore to get rid of the malware as it had closed virtually everything down, & even Malwarebytes couldnt get rid!
Does MSE slow the system down as much as McAfee (which causes a really slow system when its scanning or downloading)?
Also have heard that McAfee can be a pain to remove completely any tools or suggestions? Or do I just use Uninstall in Programmes on the Control Panel?

My daughter had mc affee installed on her laptop,i told her to get rid of it at the end of the 30 day trial,(she had all manner of things popping up)i told her to uninstall from control panel luckily all 5 items did uninstall ok,she also has Malawarebytes. My suggestion was install the latest version of Avast via filehippo its 5.0.545 by memory. Its a brilliant, free, light program. But go into the interface and settings as it has sound, which is annoying, select Gaming Mode!
It will then work away on its own and is the best freebie in my opinion.
Lavasoft was good, but if you have a laptop it will slow things down,it has become too 'top heavy' in recent years.
With free stuff they are good,BUT you must update and scan regularly, especially with malawarebytesnever put off buying a bargain today,it may be gone tomorrow0 -
