Car taxed,but NOT!!!!
Options
I bought a car from a dealer,I asked if it was taxed,he said yes, until Feb 11,good,so I bought it,been driving it for a week or so,someone pointed out to me that the tax disc said: NIL for amount paid, and 'Disabled' on it,so whoever had the car before me must have been on DLA or similar,so now apparently I have to fork out £125:00 for road tax,do I have ANY recourse to the dealer,or just pay out??Lucky someone spotted it,or I would not have looked as tax disc looked normal.

Only my own common sense kicking in so dont take it as gospel.
The dealer should have surrendered the tax disc for a refund.
He should still do this and give you some sort of refund. (dont know how mcuh it should be but Im sure someone who;s in
the know will be along soon.
Go see the dealer.
If you get no joy, go to trading standards.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
You'll need to get the taxation class changed on the Log Book as well.0

Not sure how much refund he would get... N months at £0.00 = ???
Otherwise agree... dealer said it was taxed. He owes you for tax until Feb 2011.
P.s. you need to get in touch with DVLA to change taxation class to PLG.0 -
Car taxed,but NOT!!!!
"NOT" I am afraid! A disabled tax disc is only valid for the disabled driver.
You have to get a new tax disc from a DVLA office.0 -
the V5 has to have a Taxation class change - which needs to be done at a LVLO.0

But OP said disc had 'NIL' on it.

Of course, you could always put off doing this until Jan 2011.. it's not like you're likely to get stopped as the car won't be showing up untaxed on ANPR systems.0

Last Monday I noticed that one of my front tyres was looking very "iffy"; a slight split round the side and not much tread.
I took my car round to my local "trusted" tyre centre and asked them to examine all the tyres. Three of them were found to need replacing and were "illegal".
I had them replaced and then on the Wednesday I visited my local shopping precinct. On leaving one supermarket I noticed a couple of police officers ambling around the parked cars and examining, amongst other things, the tyres.
It is not just the computers you have to worry about.0 -
