Good point! Maybe everybody's are different but I can go months without wearing earrings and the holes don't heal up. Could she not just put the hoops in as soon as she gets home from school if you can't find anything that works?

Nose piercing was a different matter, 2-3 hours with no stud and you're in trouble!

Really? I once left my earrings out for a couple of days and when I went to put them back in again they'd closed over.

I had a similar problem with mys econd ear piercings, went back to the piercing studio and she put titanium barbells in which were longer than normal earrings and don't have a butterfly on the back (just a screw on ball)

    something like this

exactly the same problem with ds,(12) the hole never actually healed properly as the bar bit of the earing was far to short and no air could get to the piercing, went back to the shop (tatoo and piercing place) they recommended a bar similar to the 1 pictured above except ds's has a flat back and the screw on ball on the front, he has a couple of these, and they work brilliantly:D
they come in a wide range of colours, several different lengths and can be either sergical steel or titainium so should be no probs with allergies
they are very fiddly to start with but he's soon got the hang of them

Reminds me again why I won't allow my dd to have her ears pierced, more trouble than it's worth it seems!

I've always found Avon earrings to have a decent length post, they're quite cheap too.

I can only usually wear gold or hypo-allergenic ones - I think these are stainless steel - but they're fine.

    Hello again,
As a parent and as a teacher, can I just offer some advice to ANYONE who might be thinking of getting their children's ears pierced?
By all means do it, if you think your child is sensible enough to take proper care of his/her ears...

...but PLEASE, PLEASE GET THEM DONE IN THE FIRST WEEK OF THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS!

This way you can keep a close eye on their ears too, and there won't be problems over P.E. etc at school during the period when the holes are healing and settling down.

    That's all.

Sorry for raising my voice - but it's the best advice I was ever given by my kids' primary school.
