  • Hello MrsD
How about reducing the car you have up for sale to free up some cash to pay off some of the more expensive credit cards or the overdraft?

Also use the extra time you have before returning to work to have a good de-clutter & eBay/carboot items to bring in some money.

i'm sure the mse's will be along to to help you soon

    Thanks

PDD..my employer reimburses fuel based on inland rev rules so if your at a site for less than 2 years it's classed as business fuel and you get it reimbursed. This is a base for the next 5 years so I wont get it reimbursed. If I go from my base to a site I'll get that but not to the base..I'll check with sky but we only upgraded to HD in Feb and I think we are tied in for 12 months.. my internet/phone should be £20 a month but as most of the call I make from home are to 0845 etc u know banks etc I usually end up paying above the £20. I usually make these call from work, so they should go down after I go back to work.

Izzybusy...work are argueing its not a change in contract, I have spoken to the legal people from the cover on my home insurance they intimated it wouln't be as well and we should look at how they deal with the flexible working request..I'm going to need to go back and maybe take this up as a grievience when I get back..

Craig I'll give northern rock a call on Tuesday...(dam these bank holidays) everything helps..the loan has 22 months to run so a month or two more isnt gonna be the end of the world..

unless someone tells me its a really bad idea I think I'll have to get the money for the next two months from the Egg card....and do my best to make the payments.

I think a DMP might be the way to go, I do want to pay it back just at a slightly slower pace then my creditors may have invisaged...

This is all helping so much..

    Hi Coffeemonster
I dont think its the price its the car, its a Ford Mustang Convertible, its priced below market value to get it sold. Its only been up a week so if I dont get any interest then its definately something I'll have to consider.

Take your employment issues over to the employment board - you may get specific advice directly associated with your change of base.

Have you had all of your paid holiday - as holiday does accrue during mat leave?

It is a bad idea to take more credit, basically you are struggling to pay back what you have, so if you think about it, taking more is not going to help. Have a look at the debt remedy again but remember that a DMP will trash your credit record and you will incur defaults which will make it nearly impossible to credit for at least 6 years, but I really think you have to do something now as you can't really afford your outgoings on your full pay, and unless you pull back a fair bit of money every month, you still will be short.

Honestly, more credit is never ever the answer.

    Hi,

I would really look into the employment issue - it's seems pretty unreasonable and could amount to constructive dismissal. As others say try the get legal advice on this. ACAS offer employment advice.

Could you consider moving to downsize - taking on more credit when your costs are increasing (childcare etc) is unlikely to help.

If I could afford it I would want the Mustang! - not much consolation since I can't, but just thought I'd mention it!

    Regarding the car: Ebay it.
I imagine they are rare and although ebay is generally bargains, rare items do tend to fetch there worth as the whole country(even further) see them

Fact is you will sell it in the timeframe, fair enough it might be less than you want but time really is money.

Ive sold 4 cars on ebay and they sell every time and ive never been disapointed with the price, people have travelled over 150 miles.

Advice, take loads of high quality photos, put every bit of info about the car in the listing, keep it clear and simple and start it low. Personally i'd not use a reserve as it scares people off.
    Only accept cash.

Its certainly a gamble but people get carried away with auctions and might bid higher than if they were buying at a set price.

Ok - having been through similar then I can sadly say you're probably stuck with the work situation... the only bit that I might question is if you were at a "base" when you left (is office 1) and you are now going to be based from office 2, then this may constitute a change of location and as such you may be entitled to something towards travel... other than that you can appeal any rejection but the rules are very strict about when and why and barely worth doing... Employers do have rights, but sadly often they cut off their noses to spite their own face and end up with a very disgruntled employee unwilling to put their heart into their job anymore for the sake of a small concession on the employers part... Working from home to save fuel would have increased the hours you could have worked etc but hohum...
Make sure you register for child care vouchers - it WILL save you money. If you have put your daughter in a nursery then see if you can't find a child minder instead... they are usually more flexible and work out cheaper... Take your time to find the perfect one though!

Returning to work... did you notify them in writing (or by email) that you would be returning? Or was it discussed in a meeting with your manager? Yes technically they can insist on 8 weeks notice BUT if they want to then you don't HAVE to give 8 weeks notice... I guess it depends on if they have maternity cover for you and have to give them notice - they don't want to be stuck with the bill...
