WiFi devices are ubiquitous now. If a product can't work where more than a few wifi devices are operating, it's next to useless.

I don't know if the same is happening over there in the UK but here both providers have just announced in a press release an almost 45% reduction in the price of the 3Gs and I am afraid on a downside for HTC users one of the providers are scrapping the desire on contract due to lack of sales and them wishing to concentrate on the 4 instead.

LOL its nothing to do with the device.. its to do with one access point being used for many devices and streaming... Its pot luck..

And I had trouble there with my Dell laptop, my bosses Macbook and wi-fi on the blackberry

Why is that a downside for HTC users?

Josh, it's beneath you to just parrot Steve Jobs unthinkingly. It's just another version of Gorilla Glass, it's been available for months and is already used on tons of other devices from the Motorola Droid to the Dell Streak.
Only Apple could announce this as some special new invention and actually get people to believe it.

If we are going on that issue my iPad works fine in the sea terminal wifi area but I always have problems with my netbook and my HP smartphone.

Exactly. I have 11 WiFi networks in range of me right now, and that's not even in a busy city location. Good thing I'm not using an Apple device to post here - the poor thing might get confused and choke up.
