advice needed- dispute over fake wedding dress

i bought a wedding dress from a private seller, who posted a picture of a designer wedding dress(an offical photo)
when i recieved the dress, it was a cheap knock off copy from china.
i opened a case against the seller as she refused to refund, and after many emails she suddenly said to return the dress for a refund. she was trying to get me not to send it recorded, which made me think she was up to something. anyway i closed the case, and the seller has now contacted me saying that the dress was damaged by me and she will now not refund.
this is a blatent lie, ive contacted ebay again.

any suggestions as to what i do now?

Your a bit !!!!!!ed because you closed the case you aren't able to open another one or escalate the original one for a refund. I'm unclear if she has the dress or not. If she has because you closed the case you cannot get paypal or ebay to force her to refund. So your only course of action may be the Small claims even if you win it wont guarantee the money. Sorry not better news

Just for future reference never close a case until you have your refund

but surely because i put down the reason that i closed the case was that the seller has offered a refund but has now not refunded.

As above, you made a massive mistake by closing the case. The seller will be laughing all the way to the bank.

    Sorry.

Thats not how paypal / ebay works i'm afraid.

The seller has now got the dress and your cash and theres very little you can do.

    Bad move closing the case.

    Sorry.

But why did you close the case if you hadn't RECEIVED your refund?

Phone ebay, and say that you closed the case as the seller promised a refund, but you didn't get the refund. Did you actually send it recorded?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Then why on earth wouldn't you seek advice earlier?

    Complete idiot is pretty correct.

What did you pay for the dress? Others will know this for definite but if it's over £100 can you not contact your credit card company (assuming your paypal payment was made with a credit card?) I'm sure I've read that some credit card companies are more helpful than others in these situations.

do you know what, im already feeling bad enough without you.
i was looking for advice not someone to shoot me down.

as far as i was concerned she was refunding me the money and that was that, had i been more ebay savvy then i wouldve known that closing the case was a bad move. but i wasnt hence why i am asking for advice now.
