Likewise, hence my 'sabbaticle', lol!
The reference in the name is 'tithe' by the way, but usually use the pseudonym TheRev (which was already used), so it was the nearest I could get!:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. When you said that it was a very early type memory foam topped mattress, I assumed that it was reflex foam with memory foam, as that's how they were all constructed to start with.
Do you have any more information about your mattress?
Myers memory foam one sided . Cannot tell what sort of springs though underside is firm and if you liked a hard bed would be usable . Lable and paperwork long gone . Only found two suppliers of memory foam beds when i bought it .
Have recently trialed a memory foam /reflex foam = no beter than the one i am sleeping on .

It's difficult to say then. Some manufacturers used to use a layer of reflex foam between the springs and the memory foam in order to bulk it out, as the memory foam was very expensive. Some actually still do to keep the costs down.
I wouldn't go for reflex foam/memory foam.
If you sit on the edge of the bed, do the springs compress most of the way down?0 -
If you sit on the edge of the bed, do the springs compress most of the way down?
No 6inch depth and sitting on the edge drops down 1 inch .
Bed looks like its memory foam on top i can feel a run of 2 inch or so wide sptings running along the edge of the mattress they stop about an inch and a half from the top of the bed .
The deep dent in the bed comes up to normsl quickly . Good spring strength on outer edges of the bed but less so in the middle .
I get the impression possibly wrong when lying flat on the bed that the hole in the foam beneath me is rather deep if i slide my hands under my hips .
Turning the bed over and pushing down with my fists springs are strong apart from in two areas both areas would more or less match the hips backside area and no i aint heavy thats my brother .

If the springs don't compress far, then it sounds like it is open coil sprung.
At the foot end of the mattress see if you can count the number of springs across the width of the mattress. I'd also need to know what size the mattress is?
It does sound that it's the actual springs that have gone. Do you rotate it on a regular basis?0 -
8 springs i make it .
I have convinced myself that its worn out .
Going to look at pocket spring with latex or pure pocket spring and see if i can fit a double bed in the space .

Thanks Tim and everybody else . I have enough information to make up my mind as to my choices .
A big step since Friday quick mooch in Argos followed by an independant bed supplier where the sales lady took me from a £200 bed quickly to a £1000 bed . Dreams where i was jumped upon in twenty seconds flat and then the manager made me his offer of the week . I ONLY WANT TO LOOK .
On to EBay and then a bit of working backwards where i ended up back on this forum though i had to change my name as i forgot who i was .
Read many hundreds off posts and gained much more knowledge .
helping others on a forum been their done that and know what its like to find a few who twist every word when all you are doing is trying to help .
