Orange contract and no signal in my new home.
Hi all.
I've been an Orange customer for about 8 years now. I've recently moved home, and now get no signal at all well, in 1 corner i sometime get a little signal, that will drop out if i move a foot.
I recently renewed my contract with them and then moved.
I checked the Orange coverage in the new home and it is poor. I haven't called Orange yet, but we have and O2 and Vodaphone user in the home, both can walk all around the house with no problems at all...So unfortuantley it is just Orange.
My question is fairly obvious. Can i get out of my contract for this reason?
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Afraid not.
This has come up on here many times. You decided to move, Orange aren't responsible for that so you have no grounds to cancel.
If you'd lost signal where you started the contract you'd have grounds, but not now, sorry. .0 -
Is there a T-Mobile signal at your new home? With the merger of T-Mobile and Orange, customers of each will be able to roam for free on the other's network later this year (hopefully soon, I just moved from Orange to T-Mobile and whilst the T-Mobile signal at home is usable, the Orange one is much better). There's love in this world for everyone. Its not just the home i don't get a signal, its the entire street.
Ofcom said that there is just 1 GSM tower in the area....
I can understand no cover is guaranteed in the home, but at least my street i would have thought would be ok...0 -

I had a similar problem with Virgin at my old address. I didn't attempt to get out of the contract, just ended up getting an 02 PAYG for use in the house. Fortunately, I had a home phone as well so the few pound credit I had on the PAYG phone did me until I was out of contract with Virgin
I've just moved house and my aol coverage here for broadband is terrible but, again I'm still tied in.08 wins £3000+ :j09 wins £4408:j2010 (6 months off) £2004:j2011 £10,003 :j 2012 - £6013 :j2013 wins £8500 :j 2014 £5530 so far....0 -
Contact customer services and report the problem. See what they suggest. Orange has UMA technology that should allow you to use your phone by piggybacking on your landing broadband connection. Try getting that for free from customer services but you need UMA compatible phones. Orange sells a few uma compatible phones but there are other uma compatible phones, just Google them.
For Vodafone customers with similar issues, Vodafone has a hardware solution called sure signal based on femtocell technology that also piggy backs on broadband connection.
Every network needs to provide such work around solutions as customers live in the real world and will need to move home or work for various reasons so every network needs to have such work around solutions. Unless customers point out to their networks what competitors are offering as solutions for such problems then networks won't bother. I have asked three network to provide such options as Orange and Vodafone. Others please ask your networks to provide such solutions for poor coverage areas or buildings, the cost is just about 50 pounds for Vodafone sure signal but am told they give it half price / free as well. Orange uma is software so probably is free. Other networks need to be proactive in this matter as well.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -
Thanks for your help all.
I'll give them a call on Tuesday and report back my findings, so that it may help others.

I was told on friday that this wont happen! I asked both Orange and T-Mobile if the merger would mean better signals for customers of the other network with a poor reception and was told (by Orange) that they would continue to be separate networks! If anyone knows 100% that this isnt true please let me knowThe Daily Mail

I discussed this issue with three network 2nd line network support tech team recently since three, Orange and T-Mobile share masts. They told me that was a misconception and three use their own masts for 3g but for areas where 3g cover isn't great or network is busy then they have arrangements with Orange and T-Mobile for site sharing for masts. They apparently don't sharemasts but if their site has more room then their agreement is to allow the 2 other networks to install their equipmemt on same site to reduce costs etc. They also have arrangement where roaming on each others networks is not charged to customer. I find Tuhe roaming sign sometimes on my phone so had contacted them as I didnt want a huge bill. They said i wont be charged and they have arrangement with Orange and tmobile for roaming sharing etc.so the same might apply for Orange and tmobile customers or it might be something exclusive to three customers I don't know.
But do ask Orange about their UMA technology phones.bubblesmoney :hello:0
