OS Daily Thread Sunday May 30th

Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Sunday 30th of May.It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good. :)

Hello friends!

Am up at Diva o'clock this morning as I was waving my hanky as OH drove away. Sad to see him go, but we had a lovely day yesterday, even though it went too quickly. We went to see the little one play football, which was the first time I've been since Easter :o and I was really proud of him, he is playing so much better, you can see him reading the game, and making much more opportunities for his team, as well as taking them, I was really proud. We came home for lunch, I did a small Tesco shop to use my vouchers in the new store, so that saved me £8, which was great! In the evening we blew the OS and had a lovely evening at Frankie and Benny's which the boys love. I have gone off it a bit, and feel it's definitely not value for money, but it was a treat to be out for dinner. Came home and went to bed. I also managed to do all his washing, which he kindly brought home too! Although he tells me this is practice for whenthe boys go off to Uni. I have started looking for apprenticeships for them now;):p

Thanks for all your kind wishes yesterday, that was lovely to read.

Kezlou I second the Bio oil, it's fab stuff, sorry to hear you've hurt it again though, do watch out for infection now.
NPM thinking of you I hope you are coping OK. {{hugs}}
I can't remember everything I read from yesterday, JackieO hope you are feeling OK, our class sounded interesting, BB have a kiss from me X and Camelot, I read you post about your son's car and thought of my sister, who is exactly thre same as your son. Problem is, she is married with two children!

OS today will be floors, baking bread and prepping some treats for the boys as they have friends to sleepover tonight.

Lastly, I'd just like some hugs for my MIL and my sister's MIL today. It's mine's wedding anniversary, 42 years if FIL hadn't passed, and I know she'll be down today, we will have her down for tea. My Dsis' MIL is very ill, and refusing to go into hospital, they are trying to make her as comfortable as possible, and giving her lots of steroids and things, but she probably doesn't have much time left. My sister is really struggling, and my 16 year old neice was terribly upset yesterday. I'm really sad for them. Sorry to end on such a sad note, but a problem shared. She have been part of my extended family for 19 years, and it's all very sad.

Hope you all have a gorgeous day, and that PenPin, Diva, SunnyGirl, Jayward, LadyGrim, and all our other friends, are OK and just busy with life. X

Just had a funny thought, Diva and Sunny disappeared around the same time, maybe they are one in the same?:rotfl::rotfl:

    Morning everyones.

Jackie - big hugs for your MIL and your Sis MIL xxxx I am glad you had a lovely day with your H and the boys. And how kind of him to bring his washing........clearly shows how well you do it ;) :rotfl:

My H has just gone off to our first ever carboot. He's doing it with his brother so I am at home with the kids. We have got so much stuff (lots of toys etc) I hope he doesn't come home with too much of it  We spent a great deal of time yesterday getting it out of the loft so don't want to spend all BH putting it back :o Not working tomorrow which is nice, I'd sort of resigned myself to working so am rather pleased I am not.
OS stuff today, well I didn't get much cleaning done yesterday and no baking so will make my lemon muffins and get DS to help as he likes that. They are currently watching The Snowman and the other day it was The Polar Express.....hmmmmm it's a wee bit early for Christmas :rotfl:

Tea tonight.......no idea :o Haven't got the chicken out of the freezer. I really must do better with our meals. I am using stuff in the freezer (not buying extra) but I am not sticking to the meal plan at all.

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday OS or not. Hugs to those that need them, Jayward, Pen-pin, Ladygrim, Diva and NPM - hope you are all OK.

Good Morning All. Windy but brighter here at the moment. Jackie - warm ((HUGS)) for you MIL and sister's MIL and all their families. Glad you had a good day with OH home.
Church later, then....not sure yet. I'd like to get the sewing out, but also have some pressing paperwork. Hope one of them gets done today! Ought to change sheets and towels and get them washed - but only if I really can get them dry outside today. Need to make bread, and a cake would be nice too. Hope the weather generally is OK for folks today and tomorrow - it does make a difference, even if we do tend to expect the worst for BH w/e.
    Take care of yourselves.

    Good Morning All

Jackie - glad you had a lovely day with DH, (((hugs))) for your family.

Been up a while and having a lazy start to the day, just been surfing around. Will have a nice relaxing bath in a minute. Not sure what our plans are today, the weather isn't looking too great at the moment although the forcast isn't too bad.

Have got a chicken out for dinner and some sausagement to make sausage rolls. If it brightens up maybe will take the kids and dog somewhere nice for a walk.

Will make some plans for later this week as the kids are off, the cinema will be involved and possible a trip to London - still want to go and see the Homefront Exibition at the Imperial War Museum.

    Have a great day.x

    Morning All

Not much planned for today just usual cooking and I have a few drawers of paperwork to sort out in the kitchen. DD can sit at the table and draw to keep her out of the way of DH so he can get some rest.

Something went twang on the car yesterday so DH has someone coming to look at it today but it will need a part so I'll probably need a lift to work tomorrow

Thats all for now - will pop back later x

Hugs to Jackieglasgows MIL & sisters MIL.
3 loads of washing on the line & one in the machine, one more to go in. It's clouding over now so the bedding can wait til during the week, it's half term so I'm only working part time, woo hoo.
I shall spend one day helping the friend who's mum died, we are still clearing out her flat, this should be the last time, but I keep saying that.

Today I'm cooking a 3bird roast that I bought from Aldis months ago, it will do dinner today, tomorrows sarnies for me, hubby & his nephew who is coming over to help with the new shed & tomorrow we'll have it cold with new pots. I don't think it will stretch to make a pie, but I'll try, if not I'll put it in the food processor with some onion, seasoning, melted butter & make potted meat for sandwiches.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

I havent posted for ages but decided I would today. Hope things improve for your family Jackie. Hugs to the others that may need it.

Today I should finish scraping the wallpaper from my wallpaper. Its been on there for over 15 years. Its the type that is embossed and you paint over. I was anticipating that underneath there would be some outlandish 70's wallpaper but there was not. The walls were just grey - what a disappointed.

I need to put some items on ebay to raise a few pounds towards our holiday to the Lakes next month, but I dont know about you but its not as good as it used to be. I wonder what it is that I am doing wrong.

We are hoping to bootsale tomorrow too and raise a few pounds, luckily it starts at 12.30 noon so not up too early!!

Then Tuesday back to swear wont go into it but not very happy there at the moment so stressful and I cannot seem to do anything right.

Oh well on holiday in a few weeks so I am looking forward to that. We are staying in Broughton on Furness if anyone has an ideas for days out please let me know.

    Morning One and All

Jackie - glad you had a good day with OH and boys, it goes all too quickly though eh? I remember when OH was in the Navy he would tell me when he was coming home but I didn't tell the children in case it didn't happen. He came home one night after the children had gone to bed (had been away for a few months) and DD who was probably about two shouted 'Mummy, who is that in your bed?' Good job it was OH!!!!!!! Take care and thinking of you and your relations at the mo.

Been up since silly o'clock and have sorted out the office and filed away all the paperwork. This is partly as DS1 (of the car and MOT debacle) may not be able to tax the car on-line now as it could be too late. Mad panic trying to find the insurance document, I think he must have it in his flat.

Weather looks a little better today, must do some washing. May go shopping with DD to look for holiday clothes - she is still going about in wee boots as she can't find anything else she likes. She must be roasting!! Tea should be salmon, new pots and veg.

    Have a good Sunday all!

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
