IPHONE 3gs Questions

- i'm looking to upgrade (ORANGE ONLY) next month to an iphone 3gs i was wondering if there are any deals that include a free laptop or something similar - i wasn't sure if these actually exist.
- also i have broadband and voip (£5 a month) with orange on condition that i must be on a minimum of £30 contract i got this through a previous mobile contract with them. - i have had this internet arrangement for about 3 years now.
- i was wondering if i could lose my cheap broadband if i went OUTSIDE of orange itself to upgrade the contract next month if i found a deal (as stated in first paragraph) through some other place like carphone warehouse or whatever!
- i dont want to risk losing my cheap internet as i cant afford to pay any more.
- i assume i will lose the £10 off monthly loyalty i have been enjoying with orange with the iphone as i hear deals with apple are set?
hope someone can help me with my questions, thanks

I don't think iPhone with free gifts actually exist in all honesty. It's hard enough to get the handset itself free on a decent tariff.
You're best to check with Orange to ask them about your Internet. Carphone do a loyalty package for broadband with Orange but without seeing the package you're on, I don't know whether you'd retain the exact one you have. I'd assume you'd keep it as long as you stayed with Orange but i'd get confirmation first if I were you.
If you upgrade through Carphone, you lose all loyalty discounts as you get the same deals as a brand new customer. I'm unaware what Orange will do directly but I'd doubt they'd give you that much off your line rental with the iPhone.Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).0 -
i asked orange some months back they said i may not get it the usual standard bosh, but if your saying i cant get any freebies with iphone gues ill go back to orange directly. hmm i cant see me keeping loyalties which i think is mean of apple to stop companeis being compettive. My Signature is MY OWN!!0

Arguably it's the best phone available right now. It will be even better when the Froyo update is rolled out shortly.
It's also a lot cheaper and you might be able to negotiate an even better deal through retentions when your contract is up (like I did once I had returned my 3GS). Plus Orange have an exclusive on the very smart looking black Desire and free gifts are offered with it through third parties if you feel you want to leave Orange.
No brainer if you ask me.0 -

HTC are a manufacturer that has made dozens of different phones, so it's not really valid to compare a two year old device which was probably running Windows Mobile with a new Desire.0 -
Agreed the operating system makes a hell of a difference, HTC can be slow with Windows but a hacked Windows can be awesome. Me modifying my mobile, a little studying at XDA Developers
Orange via Apple terms cannot discount i-plans but can throw in bolt-ons/bundles to i-plans for freeIf I helped or saved you money - Thank me
If I helped you spend some money - spank me
If I done both - :lipsrseal me:eek:0 -
If you only want an" iPhone " then you don't have much options.
If you want your phone to do certain things for you then the HTC desire can do what ever the iPhone can do and a lot more for a lot less money, everything except buy from the itunes apps. You can still synching itunes music etc with other devices with apps from android market place, I have not tried that app but do know something like that exists.
It is just a phone afterall and there will always be alternatives. There are loads of bundled deals on omio with 'free' laptop with HTC desire packages. The android market app store is not as extensive as itunes. But most things that you need can be found for free on the android market app store.
For music you can get things cheaper than itunes from amazon mp3 app on market on android.
Especially since you can't afford more than your limit, you can check alternatives like the HTC desire which can be got for cheaper with a lot more mins. Check out a friends or colleagues HTC desire or see the videos on http://www.geekanoids.co.uk/reviews/tag/htc and make up your mind. My guess is most people will be more than pleased they bought the desire instead of the iPhone 3gs, but people who just want AN iPhone only might still prefer the iPhone for reasons of personal preference.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -

I think the Desire screen is slightly larger than the Iphone's and the internet browsing on it is superb.0
