My mums pregnant. It just seems odd that people who aren't in higher education and don't have a job can get benefits to help with rent but I can't.

You won't get housing benefit to pay the rent while living with your mother whether you're a student, working or on job seekers.

Can't your mum or dad help you out at all?

When it's clearing for new students, they need people to help with that at uni. My uni (Middlesex) os advertising this, is yours?

I don't think any kid staying at home can get any help with paying rent to 'mum and dad'......

Your loans and grants are meant to cover you over the summer.

I've been given about £3000 for maintanence, all of which my uni has taken for my accomodation and another £3000ish loan for my tutition fees, which again my uni has taken. I was given a grant of £50 a the start of the year.

The free ride is over. You'll be working for minimum wage at whatever you can find during the summer I'm afraid. You are entitled to no benefits.

Why do you think so many people in hindsight say that school days are usually the best days of your life :)
