In general the flat has to remain as viewed and surveyed. The F&F list is the only flexible part of the deal.

G_M at #9 is spot on.

The F&F list as written by you and supplied to your solicitor (to pass on to their solicitor) is part of the contract. If you’ve exchanged contracts then it stands as you wrote it.

You aren’t ‘dumping on them’ by sticking to the list, you are merely fulfilling the contract.

They could, for example, ask you (verbally) to get rid of the washing machine, knowing full well it is specified on your list. When completing they could then ask you for a washing machine.

have found a new home for them on freecycle - I'm sure they'll be very happy - and they have managed to get adopted by the same family so hopefully no abandonment issues !

You need to get something in writing from the purchaser saying they do not want them. Otherwise there is a risk they could sue you for not leaving items listed on the F&F list.
  • Yes be careful it could be a ploy to get new ones out of you. Get it in writing

do people really do that sort of thing? my goodness - as if it's not stressful enough moving home ...
all I can say is that when I moved into my first home, I was so appreciative of all the stuff the previous owners kindly left behind for me - even if I did replace it in later years.

If its in teh signed contract that your leaving all white good behind just do exactly that. Its up to them to sort it out as that what's in the contract. Dont renogtionate in case you do get rid of them and then they claims that you owe them the items because its in the contracts.

Actually, I would suggest that your previous post:

("How will you like it if you move into your new home and someone has left behind a whole load of stuff you dont want.........
just because you have offered them (because you cant be bothered to move them) does not mean to say the new owners have to accept them....
    )"

will have put the wind up the poor old OP considerably more than the post you are criticising which was, at least, factually accurate.

lol mufi - i chose to ignore that post by clutton last night as i was too tired to get agitated by it. but to defend myself now .... if they didnt want the white goods then they should've said before signing the contracts, especially as i made it fully known to the EA of my intention to leave them. asking me to remove them because they don't fancy them afterall, on a bank holiday w/e before I move out is taking the mickey a bit in my book.
