Hi,
Just got a flyer through my front door for the MBNA Platinum card offering 0% PA on balance transfers until September 2007. I've not heard of this company before so I'm just wondering if anyone else has any experience good/bad of this company?

Ok, I deleted my original sarcastic comment and will put something constructive.
MBNA are a good financial institution in my opinion due to the fact that they are good at offering 'customer retention' offers. I've also never had any problems with them in 3 years of use.0 -
If you haven't heard of MBNA then I would suggest you do a lot more research on Martins credit card articles before considering applying for any credit card, just so you don't make any mistakes you may regret later.0

Nothing about the UK end of the business on Wikipedia - just background on the parent company in the US. So perhaps someone could start an item there on 'MBNA Europe'?
Pretty sure they virtually started the balance-transfer game here - it was their writing to me with offers that started my stoozing anyway.......under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -

If MBNA run Abbey's cards, does that include Cahoot as well, and if so do they allow card holders to transfer over credit limits from 2 card onto one card.
The reason I ask is, I have a Virgin Card with a 15,9% APR and a Cahoot card with a 9.8% APR so it would be better for me to have both limits on the Cahoot card.Aiming to be debt free....but still off target0 -
. Cahoot are only credit card that abbey issue themselves so thats not possible. Although Abbey are ending there agreement with MBNA soon.
Hope that helps0 -
Are they charging a fee for Balance Transfers?0

Cahoot's rates are variable, typical 11.9% and ranging from I think, 9.8% upto 14.9% but they charge whatever the rate that applies to you for everything, including cash withdrawals and B/T's. sorry dont know if they caharge a fee

Me too. Only it wasn't called that in 1996.
The first unsolicited credit card cheques came from MBNA too. There were no 0% offers then, but the bank frequently offered ridiculously low promotional rates. It helped pay off the mortgage anyway!
I believe MBNA were responsible for BT fees as well.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0
