If you have never been before start this year with a basic two/three man tent, a small amount of gear and choose a campsite with eating facilities nearby so you don't have to buy all the cooking gear (or borrow kit of someone).

    The website has this offer:

    http://www.tiso.com/shop/vango/2-man-camping-starter-pack/

Vango are good tents - just check the specification of the sleeping bag. For UK use a three season bag is the best option.

We started with nothing more than this and used it for three or four years before a Scottish storm got the better of the tent. We then upgraded to a tent you could stand in. This did us for ten years and we have just bought a new tent.

If you like it after a short trip you can start splashing the cash.

We were camping last weekend and a couple of about 60 were next to us. They had a small tent, a single gas hob, one saucepan and two mugs, plates, bowls and cutlery so you don't need a trailer full of gear.

Go outdoors has a good selection. You can usually see them put up if you live near to one of their branches.

yes just seen the ad, its for this 1, does it look any good or am i better off paying a bit more,

another question ive got if it rains what stops the water coming in ? is the whole of the tent as 1 eg when you put the tent up is the floor separate from the walls

i call car camping , taking all your gear in a car rather than wild camping and carrying everything with you in a ruck sack
ligt weight tents are lighter to carry but do not compramise performance hence they are expensive

a tent should come in two parts an inner tent .. the bit you sleep in and an outer tent thats the bit that keeps you dry and is exposed to the outside elements

you should aim to buy a tent that pitches outer first as your inner tent woul get wet if putting it up in the rain

some tents have the inner already attached to the outer so it all goes up together without having to attach anything so makes it easyier to put up

i would advise see a tent you like price etc and google it for reviews
