Unexplained happenings????
I was checking the call log on my handset when I came across a number that I did not recognise. According to the log on the 27.5.2010 @ 17.28 I had received a text from +436760000268. I do not remember a text from this number and no text is stored in my inbox. I have called the number and the line is dead.
I logged on to my online T-Mobile account to make sure my account was in order, checking my online call log. It showed that on 27.5.2010@ 17:28.58 'I sent' a text to 100201139, which I know that I did not.
I recognised this number as a number that had appeared on my bills many times and I had queried it, it is a T-Mobile technical number. No charges have been made to my account but, as you will understand, I want to know what is going on.
I am waiting for T-Mobile to explain.
Any thoughts?

Ive read before that T-mobile show short code sms on the bill as a different slighly longer number, which might explain the 1002... one, though one on my Family Mobile account starts with 700. The other number is from T-mobile in Austria, but may be set up a a server for sending stuff, rather than someone's ordinary phone.
None of that explains why it's on your bill. Maybe it's some kind of automatic update, though why they would run it from Austria I don't know. Or can it be associated with some program you have installed which sends a message off once in a while?
Rather than text messages, have you looked in service messages? I once had download links for 2 games or suchlike sent to me like that, though I hadn't subscribed. I contacted the senders an got my number removed, though it took 2 goes because it turned out they were sending to a fax number on the account.0 -
@Dave2 & Redux,
Thank you for the info.
It seems that I am not alone as this number has a few entries on 'WhoCallsMe'. It is an MMS that contains a wap link, is this another way that they have found to scam?
Redux, How did you discover this number was from TM Austria?
Dave2, I have no messages in my inbox or anywhere else, but in many of the cases that I have read the network system rejects the text due to incompatibilies.
