Wake-up Call Challenge

  • Hello all, just dropping by with my plans for Memory Girl's 100 day challenge which started on Friday,

    Lose weight - between 1 - 2 stone. I know that is a bit vague! but I don't want to get caught up it all, so anything from a pound to 2 pounds per week is good. I am ordering the Fly lady body clutter book......I want to do more walking/running since it helps with my stress levels

    2. Declutter the house and sell all I can on e bay. Clearout the loft esepcially for ebay and charity shop.

    3. Pay off 2000 pounds of the debt.

    4. Get an schedule and stick to it. ie, sleep, eating, working in a balance which means I do my job and don't have these periods of stress that are if I am honest mostly my own fault. (use the control journal)I procastinate loads and this must stop.

    5. Catch up with my masters, finish the first (by 31st July) and second module by the end of the summer holidays.

    6. Follow the Flylady plan, for the house and work

    7. Finish the garden(weeding cleaning), start the fish pond(digging)

    8. Paint the bathroom and then get some one in to fit a boiler

    9. Paint the wood work in the house and do small niggley jobs. Ideally I want to put up shelves for some stuff from the loft but not sure Mum will cope. The whole boiler malarky has been going on long enough.

    10. Return the conservatory to its former glory - it is clutter ville atm. and I did have it straight before and will do again.

    I posting this here as I think it fits in with what i have said here before. I have been stuck or not ready for change for a while now and I know I had my reasons but now I feel ready. So this 100 days is the start.

    Hope all is well with everyone? How is the homework going?

    xx

    These are my goals Tvmen They look a bit vague - might have to make another list!

  • Good luck with ur list, but remember we r all human and things sometimes come up that throw us off track a little, my goals this week are to set up a housework schedule, get budget re-worked, job hunt, look for a course that i could possibly afford and get some more stuff on e-bay, so i can make a full and final on my smallest debt.
    Going out for a meal with hubbie tonight (a rare treat) and as both children are away for the week need to make the most of it (Its a £10 all u can eat) so i want to discuss with him future plans, i want us to be debt free by 40, so we have 3 yrs, need to make a plan how we r going to achieve this!!!
    Let me know how ur getting on with ur list Buffy!!!!

    Ok, by 22nd November I will:-

    1. Have all Xmas pressies bought and paid for;
    2. Have paid off my Crapital One card (approx £1200);
    3. Loose 1 stone;
    4. Complete the garden (unbelievable mess);
    5. Finish DS's bedroom, our bedroom and the bathroom;
    6. Work really hard on my photography course;
    7. Catch up with and complete my OU course;
    8. Give DS the best birthday party he's ever had (he's 10 this year :))

    I'm absolutely sure I will add to this over time, and I'm very aware of things popping up like you say TMVen! Hope you have a lovely meal with hubby :)

    Okay I am still here but I am the Mayor or Zombieville at the moment (the thyroxine seems to give me three days of energy and then WOOMPH! straight back to no energy)

    I am slowly getting the money sorted (which is a biggie - obviously by the fact I am on MSE :p), the ulcerated leg is getting there with a different treatment and the thyroid .. well just have to wait on that one! Everything else is latching on to the thyroid and energy so :mad:

    Morning all

    Could I join the 22 Nov challenge please?

    I'm trying to work out how many days from 4/8 to 21/11 inc and I make it 110.

    So my aims are:

    1. Lose a stone.
    2. Save £1 a day for Christmas (£110).
    3. Declutter House.
    4. Mull over the small matter of what I'm going to do with the rest of my life.

    1. I'm losing weight for health - I'm @13st, my family has a history of heart/sugar problems and I have a slightly tender ankle so I need to do something about all this sooner rather than later. I don't want to do SW etc, in fact I'm going to get rid of all my diety stuff and stick to 3 sensible meals a day and more exercise. Will post starting weight when I've braved B*ots.

    2. I already collect £2 so I'll try £1 as well unless it leaves me too short!

    3. Plenty to do there - the problem is persuading people to part with stuff.

    4. Just scary but needs to be tackled!! DD2 will start senior school on Sept so I do not need to take her to school any more so I'll have more time and less exercise (it was a 40 min round walk twice a day).

    There are probably lots of other things I need to do but this will get me focussed for a start.

    Many thanks for the thread and good luck for all your challenges.
    August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Thank you all for the inspiration for the challenge. I will be on holiday on November 22, so will do it until the 12th, if that’s ok?

    During this time, I will:

    1) Become debt free! My current DFD is October 1, and I hope to have a 0 CC balance when I leave to go on holiday on the 12th of November, as well as the start of some savings.

    2) Have established a sensible and sustainable exercise regime. My holiday is in Nepal so by then I will need to be mountain climbing fit, and look good enough to fit in a swimsuit for Thailand later! I need to work out if there is a realistic way of running to and from work, or if a gym is a better option. I've had to leave my inexpensive council gym so need to work out how to do this sensibly. I expect that to get into prime shape I will end up loosing maybe half a stone, but that’s not my goal at the moment.

    3) Have taken at least 1 if not 2 of my accounting exams. I need to have this done and not hanging over my life!!

    4) Have a realistic plan for my future at work. At the moment Im thinking that I'll want a 1-2 year overseas placement starting next summer, but if that doesn’t get off the ground I'll need a different plan.

    I’ll update along the way with steps I have taken towards this. So far today I have checked out a gym close to my work, but havent signed up yet.

    Morning all

    Well I faced the music in B*oots, weighed myself yesterday and as you can see in my sig I am 13st 2lb. This is a very honest thread so I can say that I am GUTTED. I lost this stone last year and have allowed it to creep/crash back on. WHY??

    I am working my way through the thread and am going to do the first bit of homework today.
    Perhaps that will shed some light but I have to say I am nervous about being honest with myself!
    Anyway here goes...

  • Hi Franby64, The weight thing AAHHH!!!! ive done it too, never mind!!

    With regard to being honest with yourself, i always find i can't sort what i don't acknowledge as a problem!!!
    I'll join you in the losing weight thing, i need loads of kicking up the bum mind, what plan r u doing!!
    im not very good at being told what to eat, so ill cut down portion sizes and cut rubbish out and do more exercise!!!!

    Good Luck...................

    OK, updates on my challenge:

    1) Been good with money the last few days - bringing in lunch etc

    2) Had to go water plants for a friend on hols, and decided to run there and back. Bad idea! I had stopped running in the spring after I hurt my knee, and I really wasnt in shape to run 5 miles there and back! Did make it eventually though, but am cramped into my chair today...

    3) Went to the accounting school to get the exam schedule

    4) I've booked time with two people I admire to ask for career guidance. One is a current collegue who lives in Nairobi but to whom I am close, and another is a former collegue who has since left my organization. I've seen a job online that would be a huge lifstyle change (essentially living wherever theres a humanitarian emergency going on), but would be hugely interesting to me. I need to work out whether that is a better idea than getting something overseas with my currrent org. Oh the decisions...

    Its great reading other people's challenges. Best of luck everyone!

    Franby - while of course its best to be honest with yourself, dont feel pushed to share anything you dont feel comfortable about sharing with us. Best of luck with your weightloss journey as well.
