I'd put it in writing if I were you, asking them to close it immediately and explain and complain about how its been handled, that should hopefully poke something up their behinds to get them to sort it! Make sure you mention about them updating your details with the CRAs so they address it in the return letter!
Thanks for that, i'll give it a go this evening.

Also, inform the credit reference agencies - they will write to these guys for an explanation and Barclaycard will have to inform them directly that the account is closed, meaning it will definitely be updated.

I'd have thought that closing any card would be beneficial for your credit rating, as it means you have less available credit.

Right. Well, maybe it's just hearsay that it is bad for your record. Just wanted to check to make sure before cancelling mine. Thanks.
  • I been doing a similar sort of thing, Im having a bit of a nightmare with Marbles, I closed it about a month ago, and have recieved statements with 0.00 balance. I called them and they say that they will send statements for 3 months after the account is closed, so I said ' well surely my account isnt closed if you are sending me statements, they mumbled about it being a legal requirement, I replied that it can't be a legal requirement in the UK as I have successfully closed other cards without this hassle, so please stop sending them!

If i get any more , I might just send them back in their prepaid envelope.
