in Water bills
I just moved in my new flat the other day, I signed up to STW and a few minutes ago I got an e-mail saying my bill is ready.
This is my first flat and I am confused, The bill is for £180, saying £73 is due now and £106 on the 1st October.
I cant pay off £73 straight away, I am on ESA £51 p/w and I am struggleing paying bills with that.
What can I do, I hardly use water, without sounding like a tramp I cant bath that much in a week because I have problems with my skin, I try and use hardly any water in the flat, I dont remember my parents' house water bill being this much.
Are they haveing me on ?

Hi.
This is how Severn Trent work. They charge an annually in April and the standard way to pay is in 2 installments. 1 in April and the other in October. There is an option to pay by DD monthly. I think if you really do not use much water it might be better for you to go on a meter where you would only have to pay for what you use.
We as a fam of 4 in a 2bathroom house prefer the bills fixed and pay the two installments but our lone parent friend prefers the meter and last yr her annual bill was about £70.
Best thing is to contact them and ask if they can place you on a meter.
HThsealed pot chellenger no992Total for 2011= £198
mfw= 2011 overpayment =
Mfw 2012 no#25=OP target £2000

£180 a year is well below average for a water bill and companies do charge in advance with, as said above, a payment due in April and another in Oct. Paying in arrears is not an option, however you can elect to pay by Direct Debit.
Even if you go on a meter your bills will not be much lower than that I suspect - the standard charges before you use any water are £40 or £70.0 -
Hardly taking the P***.
You pay £180 for a year of clean water and foul taken away..You have no meter so you can use as much as you like.
Just phone them or email and ask for a payment plan, job done.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.

I'm also with seven trent water. We are a family of 4 with a 4 bed house and we do have a water meter. We pay by monthly dd of £36.17. We recieved our April statment last week and we have still over used by £56 over our dd.
If you are a single person and don't use much water I think the meters are probably a good idea. I personally hate having one but we do use the water and so have to pay the price.Nothing to report:p0 -
Taking the foul water away is taking the p*** and more besides.Gothicfairy wrote: »Hardly taking the P***.
