i've just had a phonecall from a so-called technical team trying to persuade me my computer has a problem, and trying to get me to give access via www.teamviewer.com or some such. i didn't because as far as i'm aware i don't have a problem with my broadband, and my computer isn't slow as they said it was, and pages don't freeze! i'm with talktalk. has anyone else had this?

But now I'm not - (Joint) Mortgage £104704.

There is another MSE thread about this somewhere.
Its a scam.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

You could of course act the bumbling innocent and keep them on the phone as long as possible0 -
I'm with fiddiweb on this, pull up a chair, pour a drink and have a laugh at their expense0

Yep, just say your call is important and do you mind holding while I'll answer the door, just go and make yourself a cup of tea come back and then act as though you don't know one end of a computer from the next.
If they are out to waste your time and scam you then I think it's only fair to do the same back, ask if you can go to the toilet and you will be back in a second, see how far you can keep them hanging on but DON'T give any personal details especially financial details (not real details anyway)0 -
I just had a phonecall too told them to phone me back later, off to work, is it a scam?0

Yes it's a scam. They'll take your money for "fixing" these nonexistent problems, and give you the problems they say they're fixing when you invite them into your PC.
run your own spyware scans if you're worried (or even if you're not, just to be safe) but do not give them anything. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
gggggrrrrr why dont these people phone me i want to have some fun with them, especially since i am a ubuntu userDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -

Yes I mentioned this before here, https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2509059=
Not good but glad you didn't give them any information.
One thing I find lately is that 'legitimate' callers can sound so bored and unprofessional it makes it hard to tell who is who - I recently had a call from my bank, which was from my bank, but the attitude, gaps and poor phone quality had me very doubtful before I spoke to them.0
