I don't think anyone who has smoked and then given up has done so without putting on weight. So well done on tackling one thing, and then the other, ASWELL as carrying on debt busting at the same time! Awesome.

    Thanks Goat & Chev,

I think I put on just under a stone in weight since I quit smoking. I wouldn't be able to tell you if food was a replacement or just the metabolism slowing down because I was too busy stuffing my face to care.

In all seriousness we were advised on here that sometimes you need to make some lifestyle changes. I wouldn't say we have made any drastic ones. It's always been a team effort with myself and the wife which I love. we both quit together and we are both dieting together. It's great to be have the same goals and dreams finacially or physically.

  • Just had to book flights for our holiday. Very happy to be going but sad that it's a small dent in the finances, but it's got to be done, we have to see the family next year as we've not seen them for ages.

  • I'm feeling quite good about this months spendings. I know we will spend a lot more this month than normal what with the flight tickets and christmas upon us, however I'm still thinking that we will be in the plus this month. i.e. This months outstanding debts balance will still be lower than last months. Here's hoping.

Maybe we have time to put some stuff on e-bay in time for christmas.

  • I went to fat club last night, sorry if that offends anyone it's just what I call it to motivate myself (weight watchers). Myself and my wife are doing so well at the moment. We joined 4 weeks ago and so far my wife has lost 10.5 lbs and I have lost 15 lbs.

I think I'm getting a little obbsessed with things at the moment. Money saving, quitting smoking, loosing weight. What am I going to do with myself once I'm a debt free, slim non smoker???

I think you'll be you, just happier, thinner and healthier - think of the freedom! :)

I'm happy to read that you and your wife are successful on your debt-busting, weight-loss, non-smoking journey :j

I'm sorry I've not been on the site for a while... I've health issues that will change the way I can live my life in future.

Although the health news is not good, it's had the most astonishing affect in a positive way. I've a sense of a sort of "fearlessness" about my own life choices... if I screw up, what's the worse that can happen? The answer is likely to be a couple of days embarrassment and that's it.

I know I cannot control what happens in the future - so am trying not to worry. If I worry too much then I might not notice the lorry when I'm crossing the road :o I appreciate the debt-busting journey involves looking towards a debt free date, but please don't forget to live right here, right now as well. ENJOY your holiday and don't regret the costs. You're creating good memories for your family and yourself. The present is a gift - it's worth reminding ourselves of that sometimes.

    Continued good wishes to you.
  • Hi, stumbled upon this by mistake and was really impressed at how much yo uhave paid off!!! I am trying to lose weight (since starting teaching, have had a few too many nights in eating chocolate!) and just cutting out naughty foods and reducing portion sizes has made the weight pile off!
    Well done!

I'm posting the results a little earlier this month as we have finished spending until Payday which is in 24 hours time.

Being christmas we did have a lot of outgoings this month some of which we had to use the credit cards for (i.e. Travel tickets £600 :( ). But we have cut down allot and were really dreading going back into the red this month.

Looking at it all now, we haven't done anywhere near as good as the previous months. But taking everything into account we still managed to pay off some debt overall.

    Paid Off this month...
    Credit Cards & Loans - £267.03
    Mortgage - £317.96
Total Debt Paid Off this Month = £584.99
Total Debt Paid Off so far = £11,813.60
    Present Day / 22nd May 2010
    Credit Cards & Loans - £54,032.81 / £63,645.64
    Mortgage - £160,794.47 / £166,894.02
Total Debt Paid Off so far = £15,712.38
    Debt Free Date = Oct 2013 / Oct 2014
