  • Do you really need to actually pay weightwatchers? You can sign up to a site like livestrong and monitor your meals on there. It will calculate all the calories and other content of the food you're eating and also give you a calorie goal depending on what you are aiming for. It's very very good and free. It will also take into account of any exercise you are doing. I love it.

I appreciate the motivational qualities of having weekly weigh ins etc that weightwatchers provides, but you could team up with your partner and mimic this, so that you weigh in in front of each other and you still have the slight competitive/motivational edge.

In short £40 is a lot!! You can buy a good set of bathroom scales for one months fee and do the rest yourself.
  • Yeah I understand that but as I see it we will only be going for 2 months max. We get the information we need and it helps us get motivated. I can't imagine it will be the same with just the two of us trying it on our own.

We already have scales that weight and mesaure body fat. So these are always useful.

It's something my wife has been complaining about every since our daughter was born and if I'm honest I really could do with loosing a fair bit too. So doing it together kinda gives us more strength to get past the finacial worries.

I think it was hiphouse that taught me to always put family above finances.

  • Fair enough, good luck with it all. I started reading this diary last week and was absolutely amazed by the total turn around over 6 months. Well done :)
  • Thanks Goatreich,

I'm sure we will suffer some fallbacks over Christmas time. But we will continue to try our best to keep picking ourselves up.

Had to have our main car MOT'd over the weekend and I knew for sure it would fail for the tyres. So had to put 4 tyres on them. Didn;t go with new ones but went with Part worn 7mm from germany. They look new to me but are only 1/4 of the price :).

Car passed with no advisories !!! :T (I was reading a large repair bill for something, that's a touch).

  • Hello Ash,

How lovely to read all your news. Many congratulations to you and your wife for all you have achieved to date and for all the positive things you have planned for your future. :T

Your focus on family and your ability to balance this with the challenges of debt-busting is extraordinary :T

Late night talks around a shared dinner at home; lots of laughter - till our ribs ached and we could barely breathe; the dancing in the back yard in the summer - these and so much more have value that totally surpasses money spent on "things". Keep your family close still.

Very, very best wishes and big admiration to you and your wife :T
  • Thanks Hip,

I guess it's easy to get blinkered by money. Thanks for dropping in to read up. And most of all thanks for your words of encouragement right from the start.

  • As I mentioned earlier we are on a diet :).

Just coming into the end of our second week and we are doing really well. At the end of the first week we lost 9lbs between us !!.

I know this is just the liquid fat your body has stored up and the next few weeks should slow down and stabalise, but we are both very pleased with the results so far and looking forward to being slim again :).

    Anyone else doing weightwatchers?

  • I'm quite the opposite, I'm actively trying to gain weight.

Well done so far though, stick at it! :)
