Hi Ash, it's worth trying some of the blue and white stuff.
Like the orange juice and canned tomatoes are just as good, the beans I wouldn't bother!
But they're generally cheap enough to give them a try

wow. That mysupermarket site is very good indeed.
I previously added a basic months worth of shopping to my basket via tesco.com just to see the prices. I've then added the exact same shopping list to myshopping and have found quite a few swaps that I can make. 8 / 10 times I've swapped things. I don't really want to start on the blue and white value labels that tesco's do as I think food and flavour is very important but even without the blue and whites I've managed to save £22 on a £175 shopping bill.
Thats for the site FA, I'll be using this for sure. Just need to show it to my wife now who I'm hoping will agree to use it.
What you really need to do is to sack Tesco off and start shopping in Aldi. There are three good reasons for doing so:
1) Superior continental quality products.
2) Aforementioned superior quality products are about two thirds of the price of their (usually lower quality) Tesco equivalents.
3) You get to mix with a better, more knowing, class of customer, rather than deluded fools who are too idiotic to see that Tesco's laughable Clubcard scheme merely masks their poor pricing position among the nation's supermarkets.0 -
Do Aldi do an online delivery ?. The reason I ask is we have one aldi near us and it's the size of a corner shop, not much in there at all.Present Day / 22nd May 2010

No. And I believe most Aldis are the same size. However that doesn't mean you can't get about 90% of what you'd get in Tesco in there. Magic? Tardis technology? Nope, it's just that while Tesco have ten types of beans, ten brands of washing powder, a whole rack of painkillers etc etc, Aldi have one. Their own. Same goes for the vast majority of the products.0 -
Thanks Gary, I'll visit Aldi for our next shopping trip to see if we can taste the difference.Present Day / 22nd May 2010

Do some credit cards reduce the minimum payments for January?. I'm wondering whether to contact Santander and ask them if it's a permanent thing?.
It's dropped from £210 a month to £179, seems a bit drastic seeing as though this card only gets minimum payments each month.Present Day / 22nd May 2010

Start as you mean to go on. That's my summary for 2011.Today I have done the following:* Paid the nursery the reduced rate of £642.83 rather than £823.25 Saving £180.42 per month
* Reduced the car insurance by £220 for our two cars. Saving £18.33 per month
* Renewed my home insurance (been with the same company for 8 years without claiming) Got it down from £44.41 to £28.34 a month, saving £16.07 a month (plus we also get £50 back into our account at the end of the year so effectively making this £24.18 a month saving us £20.23 a month). This policy is actually better in terms of cover than what I had previously as it now covers accidential damage to both buildings and contents and also my wifes £6500 engagement ring.
* I've also cancelled my mortgage protection plan and taken out join life insurance for myself and the wife. This has saved us another £47.47 a month (while also increasing our cover by almost £100k ).Total monthly saving of £266.45.... that's going to help a lot.Not a bad day, I just didn't get much work done
