Yes enigma is right: you need to update the programme version too so do the following (written by alienRIK):

Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_ma..._anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM FULL SCAN then click SCAN
Remove everything thats found (needs to be ticked)
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds

    reboot

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD THIS VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/2894/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)

    ----

Peronsally, the online norton tool was useless for me. Never tried superantispyware. Not sure if the spyware doctor is genuine or not. Have you run a scan with spyware doctor?

I think you should take into a pc repair shop as it seems you are struggling to follow basic instructions, it will save you a lot of time and probably a lot of your data.

I'm interested to see how this unfolds as files and folders kept disappearing from my last laptop, HP running Vista. It got scrapped due to faulty motherboard so I put it down to that.
A fool may give advice but the one who takes it is the bigger fool.

    OP ~

Your jumping all over the place

1 ~ Dont run spyware doctor again. UPDATE malwarebytes and run a FULL scan. Post the whole log (update TWICE to make sure it is upto date)
2 ~ Install and run hijack this as explained above
    3 ~

    Please run COMBOFIX
    http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
    Shut down your anti virus
Follow the simple instructions it gives
Post the COMPLETE log it creates here (Split into sections if need be) ~ if there are loads of 'SNAPSHOT' pages then leave them out

If it comes up with a RENAMING error then RIGHT click the exe file and RENAME and call it QWERTY (Making the complete file name 'QWERTY.exe') Or SAVE as 'QWERTY' on download
(If no log comes up or you lose it, COMBOFIX.TXT can be found in C drive)

Are you sure you don't want to run an updated malwarebytes (maybe another 2 hours), a hijack this log (less than a minute to run) and then combofix (not sure how long that takes)?

People on this board would be able to check these when you post the logs and you'd be pretty certain everything is in good shape.

If you decide to, I have copied alienRIK's instructions below which should be easy to follow - but do follow as precisely stated:

Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_ma..._anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM FULL SCAN then click SCAN

Sorry for the delay in answering, AlienRik. HP was bought from Tesco and another same model from local shop. One went faulty after 13 months but the shop faked the purchase date so HP replaced the motherboard. The other at 15 months, no joy from HP but Tesco gave me a 50% refund no argument which I accepted rather than fight it out. Faults were; files and folders vanishing, dvd not recognised, wireless not working, crashes galore, then death throes of flickering screen. If I ever get my hands on a motherboard I'll resurect it. Otherwise spares for the other. ps, keep up the good work.
