Hi

I really need a new phone, I am on payg at the moment, but thinking of buying a contract phone.

I am tempted by the 'free' gift options, but ideally looking for something in the region of up to £25 a month max.

Does any one know of any offers on a the mo?- either a blackberry or similar?

Thanks Moneysavers.

I got my partner a blackberry phone from t mobile on contract a couple of weeks ago. It costs £20 a month, he gets unlimited internet and texts, and 300 minutes included. We also got £50 of high street vouchers too (which I am spending on me!) but I dont know if that is a long term offer! I wouldnt worry too much about freebies though, often you end up paying more per month for the freebie than it is really worth.

How many minutes do you need??
Would you consider a cashback deal??

I'm looking for a deal for a friend at the moment and there are some decent cashback deals available with the 8520.

  • Have you thought about buying one? I have a Blackberry already and changed to O2 simplicity 1 month rolling contract. I don't really want to be tied to an 18 or 24 month contract. I'm now going to buy the next phone I like. More like the USA where you pay more for the phone but can change more often (I think).

There are rumours that Blackberry are bringing out a touchscreen slider with a qwerty keyboard so I'll wait. I need a phone for emailing more than texts.

Don't get an 8520. They're very much the you Blackberry. I had an 8900 and thought it was not bad. Good interface, half decent camera. I bought my girlfriend an 8520 for Christmas and took it back because it was so basic. Has no features of notice bar BBM and the screen was apalling and got her a 9700.

Downside of the 8900 no 3G. If you don't need 3G get it. If you do get a Bold.

Theres a Blackberry Bold 9700 on three mobile for £25 a month, but its 24 month contract http://threestore.three.co.uk/dealsummary.aspx?offercode=24TX50D001

I think Quidco is £80 as well.

I will go for it if i dont get it cheaper from retentions

Thanks for that, I'll pass the info on. Maybe I'll look for a newer model and see what's on offer.
Too expensive for me as well, I stick to more basic 17 and 18 month free deals. I'm trying to pursuade her into getting a cookie or similar, but her friends have BB's and she would like the BB service.

I just got a BB today, the violet one, I love it so far!
I have had the same phone and number for about 5 years. I got an O2 contract, 24mths, £20 month, free texts, unlimited web and 100 mins I think. From the Carphone Warehouse.
    :j

I'm just worried about the security of the web etc on it. I'm not a techie nerd at all, and its still charging. I set up my email account on there, and as soon as I turned it on I had emails, so does this mean that my email account on my BB is 'on' all the time, and I'm constantly signed in? Does this not leave me open to people hacking in etc. Just bit conscious about it cos I'm very soooooooooo not tech minded at all.
    Any advice gratefully received!

The Blackberry 8520 is £129.00 pay and go on carphone warehouse its a clearance deal. and o2 do simplicity blackberry for £10 a month 300 mins umlimited texts and internet + £50 cashback from quidco. so £130 for the phone upfront, and 12 month contract at £5.

Yer but IMO its a bad phone. If all you're interested in is BBM/Blackberry service then fair enough. But it's kind of a Dumb-Smartphone.

I wouldn't waste my money, personally. I understand the 9700 might still be expensive but you can get a sim free 8900 £240 off Amazon or free on contract or a 9700 for £360, again on Amazon sim free.
