    to everyone.

I'm being a good DFW today by:
    • Checking banking and making sure it's all in order
    • Putting the coins from my purse in the jar
    • Going out for a meal with MOC and the coins from the jar (well, not actually the coins - I put them in the bank and swapped them for notes IYSWIM)
    • Wedding planning [STRIKE]but no buying!! (My new motto!)[/STRIKE]:o:p
    • Entered a comp
    • Updated my spending diary :o
Wasn't v DFW-esque yesterday but I did make my own chips last night after the pub instead of going to the chippy! :T

    Happy Sunday everyone!

    xx

ETA - just realised the cash I spent yesterday and Friday is actually the same amount I got from ebay sales and surveys!
    I  offsetting! :D

Morning all - feeling much better today - thank you for all of your good wishes!
Had to go to MIL's birthday party last night - was the last thing I felt like doing but I managed to survive it. Didn't get home until 1.30am though - not ideal! Definitely no drinking and minimal eating though!

Today, we're meeting some friends for lunch and a few drinks (one is heavily pregnant and so won't be drinking either). Could do without it really but OH is looking forward to it so have to go.

    On the DFW front...
    • Taken dog for a good walk this morning to blow away the cobwebs
    • Hoover downstairs again (OH traipsed muck through last night)
    • Checked banks
    • Checked ebay - have a few watchers, nothing closes for a few days
    • One load of washing
    • Go for lunch and not drink
    • Look for cheap holidays
    • Try not to spend much (had a NSD yesterday)
    • Clean the upstairs bathrooms
That's about it for today - have a good day
    January grocery spending - £82.73/ £120

    Hi everyone!

My first post on this thread - it's great reading everyone else's posts as it gives me fab ideas! This weekend is going quite well, as I have been doing lots of research on how to cut down my bills / maximise my money (don't know if research counts?!) The only money I have spent this weekend is on viewing my credit score as (following advice from here!) I think it would be beneficial to change my bank account and switch to a 0% credit card. I have also:
    • Decided to switch to a sim only deal on GiffGaff which saves me £5-10 each month
    • Done 1 survey
    • Rated 10 tracks on Slice the Pie
    • Spent £7 less on weekly shop than budgeted for through using the deals on MySupermarket.com (though this was on Friday so not strictly speaking the weekend)
    • Saved 33% on price of MOT by booking online
    • Put my change in my piggybank :)
    Today I plan to:
    • Photograph 4 items and put up for sale on Ebay (must look at the forum thread for tips)
    • Make soup for my lunches this week
    • Do some more music rating on Slice the Pie
    • Apply to switch gas & electricity providers
    • Enter some competitions
    • Buy 2 itunes vouchers from Clinton Cards (25% off) which will do nephews' birthday & Christmas pressies :T
I think that's it for the moment - but have lots more on my list which is next door with sleeping hubby! :rotfl:

It feels so great to be doing something about my finances - although I am not in a lot of debt, I found myself spending on my overdraft for quite a few months, leaving me in a bit of a spiral (a few hundred pounds)- I have cleared it now and I am now determined to clear my credit card (£900) and start to work on building my financial strength. It's actually really exciting and empowering! As a bonus I will hopefully get to know all you lovely MoneySavers better :money:

    Welcome Jo,

I totally agree with you, this thread is so helpdful for ideas of things you can try to increase your MSE mentality and reduce unnecessary spend.

Weather today brighter than yesterday so:
    * there may be washing to hang out.
*Main plan is to get out hedge trimmer and attack hedge o'doom.
    * Also some dreaded housework
    * and of course some comping

    Have a good Sunday everyone.
