When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :T

Hey, I've never been able to start this thread before, hope no-one minds :o

So... Welcome lurkers and regulars - lets try to make use of the bank holiday to do some extra MSE activity.

Today I will be:

* taking DH to collect the car from the garage and then taking some bits off before we tow it to the scrap yard :(
* Posting my weekly RM survey return
* entering some comps
* checking for surveys (none so far)
* doing some housework
* parking in free parking and walking to shops to get a few bits
* registered for Mr A's "pulse" - looks like surveys for comp entries so worth a try to see what comes of it for free.

Happy baby steps to a brighter future to everyone who reads this thread - also, if you normally lurk not post, do have a post - I've learnt so much from this thread and it helps me stay debt free :)

ETA - congrats Lillian on your good news.

Morning katsu! Thanks for starting us off.

Feeling rubbish today - went for a few drinks iin the local pub last night with OH and have been up since 4am throwing up and having the raging trots! Not sure how I got it but its definitely a food poisoning type thing - can't stray far from the bathroom at the moment.:o
OH of course is fine and snoring his head off in bed!

I managed to list 10 things on ebay yesterday afternoon (nothing spectacular) but if they sell it should net me about £50-70ish. Was going to take them to the charity shop so anything is better than nothing I suppose?

OH has decided to change his car - we found a nice one yesterday that is only 2 years old and worked out that it will save him a whopping £2000 a year before petrol costs!!!!! He's put a deposit on it subject to a test drive on Monday. Hence the trip to the pub to celebrate!

Today's teeny list as I'm not feeling well...
    • Mr T shopping with a list if symptoms die down
    • Hoover house
    • One load of washing and dry naturally
    • Look for cheap holiday (possibly Menorca - anyone been?)
    • Evening out for MIL's 60th birthday - family dinner in a restaurant (free so good but not exactly up to food at the moment!)
    • Have a NSD or LSD
    • Do any surveys that come
    • Finish a job app
    • Do June budget - still not done this
    • Phone Vodafone to see when I can change contracts and phone
That's it for today - have a good day everyone

    :hello:Good morning all :hello:

Thank you for all your lovely good luck messages yesterday, you are very kind! :A Exam went OK, there was one question which stumped me and I was a little upset about it but have put it in perspective; it was only worth 8 marks out of 150 and the rest of the exam went ok :) Had a wonderful afternoon - drinking a couple of jugs of sangria outside in the gorgeous sunshine with lovely uni friends :) Train home at 5.30pm - in bed by 9pm! :rotfl:

Many many congratulations to Lillian1977 - wonderful news :T

My list for the weekend (feels very odd not to be needing to do any uni work!)
    • Sort out paperwork and pay c/c bills
    • Need to do meal plan and the weekly food shop
    • Start to complete bursary application for next year
    • Complete student transcript/evaluation for year and profile form for next placement - email to uni
    • Planning lots of special time with DH as he has been such a good egg to me over the last few weeks - possibility a meal out tonight or cinema
    • Will also take pup for a lovely walk somewhere new and exciting
    • Stick to SW all day
    • Holiday planning! Going on 29th June, I posted two questions on pets board and UK holidays section on MSE a while ago - find the threads, take note of tips and start making lists! :)
    • Catch up with people using texts and free minutes
Lots of love all, have a wonderful bank holiday weeekend - I'm hoping the sun will come out soon!

    Morning all!

Awwww Rachel, hope you feel better soon, best try & sleep it off & hopefully you will feel better (albeit a bit washed out!) later xxxx

We are starting decorating the DDs room today! They are going to my mums for a couple of days so we can hopefully blitz the room & get it all done by Monday :) Dont need to do the woodwork, so its just the walls. But they are in a bit of a state

    Today:
    - check online banking (Stepson has repaid £70 he owed me :T)
    - pack up DDs to go to grannys
    - clear out DDs room
    - get going in DDs room :rotfl:

    Later:
    - tea from meal plan
    - comps ending 30/05
    - Doctor Who :j:j

It looks like a small list...........but the decorating takes up most of it lol!!!!

Have a lovely day everyone xxxx

Triangle - well done on doing the exam! I would be the same worrying about the one question even though i knew it was only a small proportion of the exam. Sounds like you celebrated well afterwards! :j:j

I'm off to wales today for a couple of days to chill! I have worked really hard this month and paid a big chunk off my loan so very pleased and having a couple of days break. I don't care that the weather is terrible ( pouring with rain here) i always feel really relaxed once i get there so hurray for bank hols.

Am taking contents of fridge with me so won't spend much while there! Had parents round for tea last night and it cost much more than expected and didn't even by alohol- but didn't cook anywhere near all the stuff i bought so all good!!

I have recieved my nectar keyrings today and its triple points this weekend so filling up tank there before driving to wales.
Need to get some dogfood too while i'm there!!

Other than relaxing am going to keep jobs to a minimum!! Will maybe go to a car boot and see if theres any stuff for christmas planning
Have done overtime this morning and will be doing a lot of overtime when i retrurn as it will be June!

Going to set overtie targets for myself for June and see how much I can put off my cards as loan will be gone on the 15th Yey!!

Have a fab bank hol everyone!!
