Virgin Mobile Upgrade?

Well i've been lurking here for a while and thought i'd post here to get some help. I've been called twice today from 08456024418. I did some online searching and they are apparantly virgin mobile, their upgrade department. That would make sense as my contract is just over a month from expiry, but I didn't manage to answer either time. Can anyone confirm it is them?

Second question leads from the first. This will be my first contract renewal, anything I should expect or do? I did some searching around here but there isn't much on upgrades with Virgin Mobile specifically, probably because they aren't that large a company? I know it depends on your usage, so i'm not really expecting that much. Doesn't help that virgin doesn't have that large a range of phones either...

Am I silly in hoping to try and get a good renewal deal? I have a low tariff that doesn't actually exist on their site anymore, will that work against me?

Thanks :)

No one? If it helps my current tariff is £12 a month, 150 texts 150 minutes. I don't think I can put up with the phone I have anymore, the charge barely lasts a day unless I turn off nearly every setting, it isn't even a touchscreen! (Nokia 6220).

Can`t confirm but here is a customer service number 01225785610.

I also have a 18 month contract at £8-50 a month for 100 text and 100 minutes which expiries in August so I would be interested to see what they offer you.

The other thing I`ve found is that if you send them a secure message via their site someone from head office at Trowbridge will contact you by phone.
At least that way you won`t get an "overseas" call centre that you can`t understand.

With any renewal, you're looking to get more for less. So if you are happy with your plan, then see how much they can reduce your monthly payment and get them to throw a free phone in. The free phone will be pretty basic at sub £10.

Have a look at this thread . If you fancy a Google Android phone for £7.50pm for 24mths.

Otherwise switch to a SimOnly contract for £10pm, go via Quidco/Topcashback to get some free money, and pick a PAYG phone within your budget.

The first port of call is to visit the Virgin site to see exactly what the monthly deals are and to take it from there.
Forewarned if forearmed before letting these people bamboozzle you.

Well that might be why I got the calls, I have sent a message or two on their secure messages. Shame I didn't pick up really. :rotfl:

As for the plan, i'm pretty happy with it, not aiming for it to go up since I don't use more than 150 mins/texts anyway. I wouldn't mind a decent phone on top of that, guess I have some haggling to do.

Been looking up the list, sifting through what I want is proving harder than I thought. Currently interested in two phones. There's the Nokia n97 mini and the new Samsung Wave, either of these good? (Obviously i'm going to try and haggle the Wave down, it'll be easier to get the mini with my kind of budget).

Just an update, gave virgin mobile a ring and they couldn't offer me anything at all different from the site, even saying they'd have to transfer my tariff so I couldn't get my £12 a month rate! Asked for the PAC code. Guess retentions are bored of giving people rewards for some loyalty.
  • :j happy to say that the phone number is from Virgin Mobile and it is to do with contract phones.
